About this listen

Falling in love was never part of his mission....

With visions of professional glory, underwater archaeologist Cressida Porter embarks on a research trip deep into the heart of Eastern Turkey. Her dreams turn into nightmares when she becomes the unwitting courier for a terrorist network. Stranded and unable to speak the language, she turns to a handsome and enigmatic security specialist for help, even while fearing he may be behind a violent assault that leaves her vulnerable.

CIA case officer Ian Boyd's mission is clear: follow the courier, identify the terrorist leader, and intercept the microchip before it falls into enemy hands. For Ian, cozying up to the alluring archaeologist to find out where her loyalties lie isn't exactly hardship duty. But spending time with her proves dangerous when she awakens a longing for a life he can never have.

Attraction wars with distrust as Cressida and Ian are forced on the run. When violence erupts in the already unstable region, Cressida discovers everything she knows about Ian is false. With all secrets revealed, Cressida must decide if she can trust the spy with her life while Ian faces his own impossible choice: Cressida or his mission.

Lies, secrets and plot twists

Phew. I loved this book. Strap in for this breakneck roller coaster ride of a romantic suspense tale. This author does a phenomenal job of weaving together exhilarating action, palpable tension, political intrigue, plot twists, mystery, and red-hot romance. Ian is a CIA operative who is trying to track a terrorist cell through Hejan, a double agent. Cressida is a PhD student in underwater archeology and is in Turkey to do research for a grant proposal that she needs for her dissertation. She hires Hejan, a local, to translate a map and arrange for his brother to act her guide. Unfortunately, Cressida’s translator is also Ian’s double agent and Ian believes Hejan passed her the microchip that he needs to track. Thus begins a roller coaster ride of danger, intrigue, lies, and secrets as Ian and Cressida track across the Middle East. I was not a huge fan of Ian/John when the story started but as his walls broke down and he became just Ian, much like Cressida, I fell in love with the real him. The story included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline as shown through sweet moments, strong friendships, spicy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous moments, mystery, uber protective men, smart women, secrets, plot twists, painful pasts, evil actors, and love. I will definitely be reading more in this series. 4.5 stars.

Nicol Zanzarella did a wonderful job narrating the stories and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

007 has nothing on this hero!

Stuck in a situation where everyone is out to get you, the only person you rely on is your companion.

Love this "Evidence" Services

All the characters in this series are fun to get to know. I especially like seeing lead characters in one book reappear in supporting roles in other books continuing to tell the story of their "happily ever after". If you like romantic suspense you will enjoy this series.

Another GREAT Mystery & Thriller – & Love story

I have come to love Rachel Grants writing – she pulls you in and keeps you there wanting to know what is next and there is always another next - mystery or thrill . . . taking along the lives of each characters.

The love between the two main characters is always there but never knowing where it will go.  The adventure is fun and full of third world insights and experiences.  As a mystery it is good . . .you’ll most of the time never know what direction or turn she'll take you while you read or listen to this wonderful suspenseful story.  I have read through most of the series and plan to finish it all. . .it’s that good!

Worth the credit: yes all of the series thus far!

Great Series

I'm amazed that every novel in Rachel Grant's Evidence Series has been wonderful. I've thoroughly enjoyed each one. The plots are well thought out and I have trouble putting them down. The characters are so real you feel like you know them!
