About this listen

Read by the author.

Find hopeful courage and peace of mind as you face pregnancy after losing a baby.

Motherhood doesn't always look like “happily ever after,” and family planning doesn't always go according to plan. While pregnancy is widely regarded as one of the most joyful times in a woman's life, for the mother who has experienced pregnancy loss, a subsequent pregnancy can feel like she's holding her breath and hoping for what she can't control.

In Courageously Expecting, author Jenny Albers meets you in this difficult season as someone who has also experienced the worst and cautiously hoped for the best. She invites you on a thirty-day journey through the complicated and often contradictory emotions that accompany pregnancy after a loss. Together, you'll spend time in reflection, prayer, and journaling as you discover how to find the courage to move forward in faith, including:

  • Trying again after a loss
  • Seeking comfort in God instead of Google
  • Celebrating each milestone
  • Believing that joy will come after mourning

Throughout this journey Jenny encourages you to cling to faith in the face of fear and will guide you to:

  • Cultivate hope when doubt weighs heavy
  • Realize that the past does not dictate the present or the future and that God creates a way in the wilderness of grief and loss
  • Flip the script on the what-if, worst-case-scenario narrative in your mind and learn to take your thoughts captive
  • Find the courage to humble yourself and ask for and accept help from others.

Whether you're pregnant again or still in the stages of considering becoming so, Courageously Expecting is a companion to help you through the days when fear overshadows hope. Taking this thirty-day invitation to join Jenny is your brave step toward hope when pregnancy feels heavier than you ever thought it could.

It's authentic, relatable, balanced & sensitive to the incredible complexities that's this situation can bring. It's full of hope & yet realistic. It walks the reader through a process of prayerfully moving through this intense season with faith, gratitude & appreciation of the life that exists now, though not held yet in your arms and may not ever be. It honors the moment that's given. The life inside - cherished even during pregnancy.

Only read if you are a devout Christian!

Struggled with it for a few chapters, but just couldn't get through it. This book is written by a devout Christian, who is using phrases from the Bible in almost every other sentence. It might be a good book for a regular churchgoer, who reads their Bible daily, but not for others.
