About this listen
Suddenly finding himself on an alien world, a reluctant soldier becomes Earth's ultimate champion in a secret war, in this portal fantasy adventure.
Max Cromwell was only fifteen when his mother died of cancer. Angry and depressed, he spent the rest of his teenage years a rebellious troublemaker, neglecting school and playing video games. Having barely earned his high school diploma, he didn't even attempt applying to college.
But after drifting through a series of uninspiring jobs, Max joins the military for a year of service. The discipline snaps him out of his inertia, the physical exertion increasing his strength and stamina, the focus quieting his restless mind. With his discharge approaching, he feels for the first time like he finally has a future ahead of him. That is, until the sky tears open during a training exercise, casting him through a portal to the world of Alpha Ludus . . .
It seems Max is one of many people abducted from Earth to participate in the Cosmic Games, conducted by the Intergalactic Consortium of Civilized Beings. Humanity and three alien species have been recruited to wage war on behalf of ICCB members in a conflict over resources. The species that wins the game for their benefactors will return to their home planets, rewarded with the knowledge to guide them to peace and immortality. The other, losing species will be made extinct.
Now Max must learn the ways of the intergalactic warrior: channeling mana, developing powerful abilities, and acquiring supernatural weapons. And with every victory against natural threats and alien enemies, he'll evolve into humanity's fiercest protector.
The first volume of this LitRPG adventure series—with more than 600,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Matt's in the prime of his life. So when his doctor tells him he only has months to live, he figures it's just really bad luck. But it's about to get a whole lot worse. Story
In a world where runes hold unimaginable power, mere mortal and gifted artisan Nate must harness arcane magic to navigate treacherous paths, reveal the hidden truths of his own past, and discover the workings of the illusive ‘System’. No big deal. Emboldened by only his penknife and a weirdly profound understanding of runic sorcery, Nate must uncover if the path he has been thrust upon may spare his earthly existence. "Congratulations! You are the last survivor of the Hell Games. You have gained back your freedom." Huh? One moment I was running from demons and other competitors trying to do me in. The next, I was thrown back into yet another realm. Before me, some Princess started explaining that she had asked the gods for champions to help save her world in these dire times… and I was one of the chosen heroes. Yeah, right! I had been in Hell long enough to know I shouldn't trust my senses when it all seemed too good to be true.

Story
A life spent honing his skills and serving his country hasn’t turned out exactly how Nathaniel Abrams planned, but it’s attracted the attention of the Tower. Ascending to its peak is meant to give anyone whatever they wish for, but all Nate cares about is finding some way to use the skills that seem so useless in civilian life. And if he can prevent a magical wish being given to some maniac (because the Tower seems to love welcoming maniacs through its doors), then that’ll be a bonus. Besides, Nate has an edge.

Story
It’s Drop Night, the one night every decade when the gods hand out cards to a lucky few. If you get a deck, you’re a deckbearer capable of wondrous feats within the Great Game system. You can control powerful monsters and summon mantles that let you fight alongside your beasts. Ethan Wolfe, top enforcer for the Grimm family mob, has already been overlooked on two previous Drop Nights. People of his ilk seldom receive cards, as the gods tend to favor people who follow their divine mandates, but that doesn’t mean Wolfe can’t hope.

The creature slithered, dragging Duen mercilessly toward the mirror’s abyss. “No! What’s happening? Help!” Duen’s anguished cry pierced the air as he was gradually pulled into the mirror, his legs disappearing first. Desperately, he extended his left arm, clinging to the mirror’s edge as he teetered on the brink. The creature hissed ominously as it prowled the periphery of the lava pit, observing Duen’s torment. “Argh… am I dead? Is this hell? Help me, old man, Lia…” Duen gasped desperately as countless demented hands clutched and dragged him deeper into the scorching abyss.

Great LitRPG from a new author.
It wasn’t perfect. There were a few points where I wished the author had done a better job of justifying the MC’s behavior, but these moments didn’t happen frequently enough to spoil the book.
However, for a new author and in light of how terrible the majority of audiobooks in this genre are, I decided to give it five stars. If this was from an established author I would have leaned closer to 4 stars. I went with 5 because I believe that anyone who manages to push back the blight of haremRPGs, and the practically-unedited dross that Audible is constantly recommending to me, deserves encouragement and appreciation.
I will definitely grab the next book in this series.

Mc dumb as a box of Rocks.
As I pointed out the MC is dumb. Or the author just not very creative with the skills. Max could have utilized his skill far better than he has, instead he wastes mana using the skills in bad ways. On top of that he seems to luck into everything, add in he is a coward who thinking process is lowbrow at best. Other than that, the Plot of the story is great it's just too bad about the MC.

Well written and wonderfully narrated
For a newcomer to this gengre, this book was a wonderful experience. The story is paced perfectly and is well written and edited. Initially I did not really know what to think about the RPG element, but this book really sold it to me! I think the strongest part really is the story with engrossing adventure and scenery. I really enjoyed the main characters company and his development throughout the book. I can warmly recommend Cosmic Games to any fan of the litRPG genre and to newcomers who want to have a taste! Definitely looking to read more of this series.

WOW no really...
I love playing WOW. What I don't want to do is listen to a narration of game play and that is what this is.
