What happens when a woman marries her greatest enemy?

When investigative journalist Reagan McAdams discovers her new husband, Julien, is part of a powerful international crime family, she flees Paris with their newborn, returning to her childhood home in Nutfield, New Hampshire. She plans to gather her inheritance, collect her beloved grandmother, and disappear forever. She'll do whatever it takes to protect her son from his criminal father.

But when Reagan arrives home, her heart breaks at the news of her grandmother's death. Finding her missing inheritance - hidden somewhere on the property - is as impossible as a second chance with her former boyfriend, Brady. Reagan's feelings for Brady are stronger than ever, but when Julien's people harm innocents to smoke her out, Reagan must make a choice. What - and who - will she have to sacrifice to save her son?

Awful narration

The narrator makes the main character out to be whiny. I almost quit listening but the story itself was good. I will avoid listening to this narrator in the future.

Intrigue

This was really good. Lots of plot twists, romance and good guys vs bad guys. Rather long though.

Tammy

I enjoyed the story, it kept me interested throughout. The narrator always sounded whiny and that was difficult to listen to

Good story

The story was good but would have preferred if Reagan would not have been portrayed as weak and whiny. The narrator was ok.

The narrator put me to sleep.

It was an okay book but put that along with a narrator that sounded like she was straining to get every word out and you have a book you just wish would be done. The author also repeats a lot!! The book could’ve been about an hour and a half shorter just by cutting out the repetitive information. Other than this bit, the book wasn’t bad, it was just very slow

Interesting

enjoy the story was surprised by the twist and the endings are always predictable. I prefer Christian fiction mysteries instead of romance that is predictable.

Narration was too much

The narration was very DRAMATIC! Even the chapter numbers were read with passion! A little much but a good story

Excellent story ... but missed opportunity

This was my first book by Robin Patchen and it was an excellent story, a good narrator, maybe a little long, but kept my interest the entire time. My only disappointment was the lack of faith woven into the story. I’m not looking for anything “preachy”, but there were so many missed opportunities to weave in more than a desperate (foxhole) plea to a God the characters didn’t know, or having a friend say she’d be praying. I guess from an author who writes Christian Romantic Suspense I expected a little more.
