About this listen

As seen on NRATV!

While the United States, and indeed most of the Western world, fights an active war against Islamic terrorism, we remain in deep denial about who truly is the enemy. Elites across North America and Europe fight to silence those who argue, compellingly, that the roots of terrorism are within Islam itself, which has evolved into far more than a religion - it is a radical and dangerous political ideology that consciously, if often tacitly, places itself in opposition to democracy and basic human rights.

Robert Spencer, one of the world’s foremost critical scholars of Islam, has been labeled public enemy number one by those who apologize for Islam and its violent excesses. He has been called a propagandist, a racist, and an “Islamophobe” - a term that he willingly embraces in this provocative and important book.

There needs to be a thoroughgoing and honest public discussion of the acceptable parameters of criticism of Islam in light of genuine interests not only of national security but of civilizational survival. Our lives, quite literally, could depend on it, as could those of our children and our children’s children. Confessions of an Islamophobe is an attempt to begin that discussion.

Incisive and compelling

Although frequently characterized as such, Spencer is neither a bigot nor a hater. Rather it is those who would stifle free speech, particularly on our college campuses that seem to be filled with hate.

The book deserves a better reader. Mr
Michael's tone is ponderous and heavy and almost comically, he mispronounces words like excoriate.

Great listen if your interested in protecting your personal freedoms

Great book I enjoyed the hell out of it and recommend it to someone interested in learning about the collapse of western society by the infiltration of Islam into our daily lives

Good and true but redundant

If you have read or listened to his other books, you will likely not learn much from this one. There are some novel ideas discussed in this one that I have not heard before, but I prefer his books that focus strictly on The facts about Islam rather than the constant cultural bickering we all see too much of anyway. All that said, Spencer continues to deliver well supported and reasoned arguments without a hint of hatred or malice.

Robert is on point regarding the risk to our culture and governance, but Iwas distracted by the odd inflections of the reader.

I have read several of Robert's books. I find him fair and well researched. I am disappointed that he no longer can act as a
trainer on the subject of radical Islam with our FBI due to their Spencerphobia. That being said, this piece focuses more on the cultural cost of bowing to Islamic activists and the redefinition of key doctrines by Islamic apologists. Having read the Koran and spoken with my Muslim friends, I find little of what the media says about Islam to be accurate. Denial of reality in areas where it might offend may be popular, but it can also be deadly. Unfortunately, the oddly inflected reading distracts from the effectiveness of this book.

Robert’s words should be read by Robert

Why is Audible hiring actors to read the words of people who are alive and much better at reading their own words? The book is terrific.

Into A Headwind

I applaud your works for being grounded by facts and historical incidents and the words of others that make your points true. Sad that civil enlightened discussion can't occur despite the obvious 600 pound gorilla sitting in the room. I am tired of the deflection and avoidance of answers to legitimate questions about the radicalization of so many adherents to " false teachings" only to shift the onus to non Muslims to become more educated or conversant on the "true" teachings of that faith, with assertions that peaceful aspects somehow cancel the violent and repressive tenants automatically. How can that selective dismissal of "Gods" directions as reflected in the teachings be possible? It is because of denial and and lying to infedels is ok. You may be right that you will be on the wrong side of history, but you won't be alone. History will run its course to the peril of many with their head in the sand. I think the author should encapsulate in many formats and languages, his works and predictive warnings into a secure place to be found and compared to world events and life 50 or 100 or 200 or 1,000 years from now. A sort of time capsule that will survive a purge of anti radical non- conforming politically correct thought and material that is likely to come also.

The serious danger that we’re in

This is such an important book and needs to be read by everyone. If what Robert Spencer says is not true then it needs to be refuted with facts not with emotion.
Robert Spencer is a brave man and the Western world owes him a debt of gratitude. When will our leaders wake up ? For centuries Europe battled against Radical Islam and now they’re giving up without firing a single shot.

Interesting book with an odd reader.

This is an interesting book with an odd reader. What makes it interesting to me is that the book proves that society is crazy. People don’t use fact based reasoning to make a decision about this subject. I understand that we’re all imperfect however when you deal with a subject as serious as this. Logic should prevail. Unfortunately it does not.

Very superficial

Seems he’s done some research yet he is clearly incapable of understanding Islam. His literal translation and inability to understand the context makes him believe the Quran like any radical extremists. This sort of approach can apply to any faith or ideology to only bring to the reader the worst in anything.
