About this listen

Maximilian is the last of the noble Valevsky lineage. His entire family was put to death for an alleged attempt on the powerful Duke of Odoevsky, who had his eye set on the Valevsky's land.

The young man managed to avoid execution, but not punishment. From here on out, he's condemned to life as a doomed soldier. The front line in the fight against the dark god Skron's mutated creatures. "Do or die"—that's the doomer motto that has been drilled into the last of the Valevsky's head. The Duke took everything from him but his honor and a thirst for revenge.

He made a vow that he'd dig himself out of this hole he's been driven into and lay claim to his birthright. But first, he needs to get through training and survive. A rookie doomer can't afford to dream of anything else.

Great story with lots of potential

The story line is easy to follow and keeps you following. MC shows courage and thinks problems thru before acting, although he acts childish sometimes we realize he is still a child. The narration fit well with the story line and he gives just enough variation of characters. The character development is a little slow but you know it's there, which is why I look forward to the next book

strong mc with nothing to lose

mc has warriors training, gains rare magical capabilities, then gets forced to become a Doomer, who has basically no rights and is for all purposes "dead". pretty entertaining, nothing too stressful. hero gets a lot more crap than seems reasonable from others making it a bit contrived but still fun, easy read. probably worth reading sequel

yeah...

So i dropped this one. At first, it was refreshing to see an MC that is well trained and competent, but then out of nowhere, all those around him are stronger than him, even the girl he saves during his trial and surprise surprise said girl is a complete b!tch. alsobthere are some inconsistencies, but i don't know if those are due to translations errors or not. yeah, the main reason i dropped this is because of dukes daughter.

What a story

If you like your main character being tortured, beat up but remains defiant, then this is his story for you. The system information is very confusing with the main character, obviously having extra. Throughout the whole story, the main Character just gets pounded on while he is trying to figure out the system mechanics. Then at the end, you get a little teaser puzzle. I will admit the writing is good, but the story sucks. I really don’t think it’s worth continuing to read this series.

Beat down

The constant beat down of the MC wore me out. I don’t recommend this book as it is relentless in its unfairness and forces you to accept that.
