About this listen
"JENNIFER HAS WRITTEN AN AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL BOOK." (Kathie Lee Gifford, Today Show host and Emmy-award winner)
A novel based on true experiences, Come to the Garden is a story about a woman’s journey with a mysterious angel that encourages listeners to believe heaven is closer than they think.
Author Jennifer Wilder Morgan served as a hospital volunteer, visiting critically ill patients – praying with them and listening to their stories. As she created a safe space, patients began confiding about the mysterious ways God spoke to them – including encounters with angels, visions of loved ones who’ve passed on, and messages of comfort spoken in dreams. She witnessed the profound healing that occurs when people are permitted to talk about these experiences, and as a result, Morgan was inspired to share her own personal encounters with God in a novel.
In Come to the Garden, the main character, Jenn, wakes up on her birthday to discover an angel in her backyard garden. The angel, who calls herself Margaret, is charming and funny, and she knows that Jenn has been questioning a lot of things about God recently. Is he really there? How is anyone supposed to believe that God truly cares for us when we see so many bad things happening in our world, and we experience the disappointments and tragedies of life? But Jenn suspects that God has been trying to speak to her in mysterious ways. If only she could figure out what He wants her to know. Margaret is here to help her understand.
Framed as conversations between Jenn and her guardian angel, this unconventional and charming narrative will strike deep into the hearts of anyone seeking a greater understanding of God. Come to the Garden is an inspirational fictional story based on real events about the surprising ways God works in our lives and affirms that heaven is truly closer than we think.

Robin Jones Gunn reveals poignant truths from her life as well as from the lives of women in the Bible as she flips the notion that we are at the mercy of circumstances. She asks, what if God has dreams for you? What if he is accomplishing those dreams in the midst of shattered hopes? When life doesn’t go as expected, it’s easy to feel like a victim. We look at the events that have gone wrong and view our lives as impaired. What if we could see our future as God sees it?

Story
It's not what I lost. It's what I've found. I was only 17, just a girl, when God asked me for everything I had...my health, my hopes, my independence, my dreams, my freedom, and my mobility. He took it all. I was so angry with him that I tried to push him away. God relentlessly held me more closely. Looking back, 40 years later, I understand that God has changed and healed me - my heart and my mind - in the most unexpected ways, giving me rubies of his wisdom about an unbending faith and an experience of his mercy I can now tell you about.

One day in the life of Christ. Call it a tapestry of turmoil: A noisy pictorial in which the golden threads of triumph knot against the black, frazzled strings of tragedy. Be still, close your eyes, can you smell the roses
Would you listen to Come to the Garden again? Why?
Absolutely! What a amazing gift the author has given readers. After completing Come to the Garden, I had to step back and take some time to absorb and reflect on all the feelings that I had from the story.
What did you like best about this story?
Having been told that I have a child-like and simple way of looking at life, this book seemed to be written just for me. Though it took many years for me to be open about expressing myself, I have always felt that heaven is all around us. Especially after the sudden death of my brother to suicide. I remember so well, a few days after the funeral, the delicate touch of a dragonfly on my hand. It was as though God was telling me that my brother was safe in his arms and that I would see him again. That beautiful creature just rested there as a sign of peace.
Which character – as performed by Kathie Lee Gifford – was your favorite?
Although I loved all the characters, Angel Margaret was my favorite. So many little instances, when I knew that I would never be alone and that I was loved. Even in my own backyard, I get such peace from enjoying the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and flowers under the canopy of large oak trees. What a gift!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Surprising, no tears. I did find myself with a smile and some outright chuckles! I listened to the story with my eyes closed and found that my mind played all the scenes for me. To me, that is the sign of a good story.
Any additional comments?
This audio-book was like taking a deep breath and knowing such a sense of peace. Thank you so much for the opportunity to savor this beautiful story. A big thank you to Kathie Lee for bringing the story to life. God bless.

The Garden Needs More Attention
Not at all what I expected. I kept listening and thinking that there had to be some substance to the story coming up somewhere, but it never quite made the grade beyond rambling dream interpretations and a more fiction-like storyline. Still, there were some good reminders for Christians that are well worth hearing again. Kathy Lee Gifford's narration was by far the best part of this book that could and should have been so much more.

Engaging - Easy Listening - Revealing
COME TO THE GARDEN is a delightful audiobook. Kathie Lee Gifford's voice kept me enthralled as she brought Morgan's stories to life. Gifford's narration is easy to listen to and very engaging. She seemed so connected to the text, it was like listening to an old friend over a cup of coffee.
Morgan's book encourages me to seek and listen to the different ways God speaks to me and shows me how He continues to reveal His nature and orchestrates His plans for me in the midst of my own "stories". The book confirms that as we open up and share our experiences with others, we can have clarity, healing and a
more intimate relationship with God. I think COME TO THE GARDEN will be a blessing to anyone seeking a closer relationship with God.

An Absolute, Must Read!
Would you listen to Come to the Garden again? Why?
Because of the inspiring message!
What other book might you compare Come to the Garden to and why?
There is no other book that compares! It is beautiful and completely original!
Which character – as performed by Kathie Lee Gifford – was your favorite?
Jennifer herself! She is such a beautiful, kind, Godly woman!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me laugh and cry. There is so much gripping emotion, and uplifting beauty.
Any additional comments?
Jennifer Morgan’s ‘Come to the Garden’ is an absolute, must read. Its storyline is not only gripping and compelling, but truly inspiring as well. The narrator is Jennifer Morgan herself, who discovers her beautiful guardian angel, Margaret, waiting for her in her own garden. The reader instantly becomes absorbed in the enthralling storyline as her angel takes Jennifer on a journey that involves looking back on many of her important life events. As one reads the novel, the reader really feels connected to the main characters and feels as though they are sitting right in the beautiful garden with them. The storyline is deep, beautiful, and shows incredible examples of God working in your life in ways you cannot even imagine (not to mention that the writing is amazing). I would give it more stars if I could.
I highly recommend this superlative work to anyone who has been looking for that one, special novel where they can feel like they are a part of the story and go on the journey with the characters. Thank you Mrs. Morgan for writing such an incredible book and I look forward to reading more of your work!
God Bless,
Andrea Hintz
