About this listen

Welcome to the Wild North, a desolate wasteland where criminals go to hide - if they can outlast the drought and the dangers of the desert. Or the dangers of something else.

Meet Nox, the Coilhunter. A mechanic and toymaker by trade, a bounty hunter by circumstance. He isn't in it for the money. He's in it for justice, and there's a lot of justice that needs to be paid.

Between each kill, he's looking for someone who has kept out of his crosshairs for quite a while - the person who murdered his wife and children. The trail has long gone cold, but there are changes happening, the kind of changes that uncover footprints and spent bullet casings.

Plagued by nightmares, he's made himself into a living one, the kind the criminals and con men fear.

So, welcome, fair folk, to the Wild North. If the land doesn't get you, the Coilhunter will.

Great listen. Easy on the brain and very visual. Best western since the Good the Bad and the Ugly, but with a great twist of a future distopian world.

Great Tech Western

Not a bad story. It was okay. I just felt it ran like some of those old western movies with a bit of a steampunk update to it. I am going to assume a huge portion of the back story to the world that these tales take place in are in the follow on books. If not, there are a lot of confusing things going on.

Okay

This being my first foray into the western & to a smaller extent.. Steampunk, it wasn't too bad. I definitely like the Anti-Hero character of the "Coilhunter" aka Nox. A man determined to find & avenge the death of his family, whether he has to endure giant scorpions, mine monsters (?), the treacherous North, etc. In the end.. It's either him or them, and they don't stand much of a chance!

A Bit Long, But Still A Solid Book

Of course RC Bray is the reason this tail of an earth in ruins is amazing instead of mhh. Do not take years to get the other book out please, I want to hear the whole sooner than later.

What a tail.

This a difference story, sci to and the old west. I enjoyed narrator. Liked the raspy voice. It got the character.

Unfortunately, this was disappointing. The story line seems to just "come out of nowhere" as well as there was some ineffective "fluff" at times. It's almost as though Dean Wilson was struggling to make this work, the narrator was perhaps the ONLY reason I stayed with the book.

The story seemed lost.
