About this listen

Olive Thornbury only had one crush in high school, and his name was Asher Gallo. She was smitten with him from the first time she had laid eyes on him. But instead of acting on how she felt, she kept her nose stuck in a book, finding safety in the words rather than emotions.

Asher had never thought of Olive as anything more than a friend. She was aloof, preferring to read books, instead of spending time with her friends. And when she moved away almost a decade ago, their friendship quickly disintegrated.

But when Olive returns to visit a local university, she never expected to run into a very grown up and even more handsome Asher. And what starts off as a rekindling of an old friendship turns into a fiery relationship.

Do the opposites have enough in common to go the distance? Or will their combustible chemistry cause the flames to turn everything into cinders?

Explosive

Cinder by far was toe gripping, suspenseful and explosive. Addictive story that you will be listening to constantly.

Love all the Gallos

As always was a great love story for the last Gallo but I will say I was a tad disappointed as the story seemed rushed. There wasn’t a lot of build up. She’s been gone 10years he sees her in a grocery store and what seems like within days they love each other. Then bam getting married. Maybe there was some time in between there but it seemed like it happens in a matter of weeks. But I always love the love stories. So still was a great love story.

Chelle never disappoints! Love this story. I miss the old narrator. This one sounded like he didn't know the history of the Gallos, there's no gruffness to any characters.

Great story, but terrible narration.

Why does the male narrator sound drunk throughout the story?! I felt drunk just listening to it.

I wasn’t sure if I’d finish the audio with the narration, but the story was good and I tried to block out that all my favorite characters from this series suddenly sounded like a bunch of gross drunks all the time. Kind of ruins the enjoyment of the story.

I will say though that the storyline was really good. It wasn’t my favorite of all the stories, but I did enjoy it!

Olive and Asher

A missed opportunity in high school becomes a second chance at love as an adult. These Gallo men are yummy and hard to resist. Man it is sweet when the Gallo men fall and fall hard. Asher is a gone man when he reunites with a friend from his past and Olive just can’t resist Asher’s charm.

I absolutely love a strong willed heroine and Olive is all that. She’s intelligent and beautiful and has a good head on her shoulders. Asher is I guess a reformed playboy and has his sights on Olive.

Their relationship is a journey of taking chances and second chances. Chelle writes stories filled with family love, romance and all the spice. This story was no different. I just can’t get enough of the Gallo family.

Nikki Grey and Patrick Zeller are new to me narrators but they did a great job bringing Chelle’s words to life and making the listen that enjoyable.

Gaaah - I’m finally reading the last book from the Heatwave portion of the Gallo family series which includes all the Men of War need books too! Somehow I read Dare before Cinder. But I totally loved Asher’s story! The humor, the craziness of the huge family, the sexy times- it’s all so much - everything! Everything! All the feels you could ever want is in this series! It’s perfection from the very first book to the last! This is one you just have to read and prepare to fall in love with an entire family! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jury is out whether I can finish

I’m only a half hour into the story and not sure whether I can finish. Both narrators are lacking. Story seems to be not as good as the others too. I’ve listened to every story in this series. The last few books have been getting harder to finish. Combine that with the narration and I think I’m done. I’ll give it another 15 minutes to see if things pick up.

Sorry couldn’t finish

I wanted to like this because I love the men’s of ink series. But this seems to be a retelling of another book. It’s losing its character and excitement

Dull…

So sorry, to Chelle Bliss. I own every single one of her books on Audible… that’s a lot of $$$. Every time another comes out, I buy it. This one is probably my least favorite. The narrators are horrible, especially the male narrator. The pauses between dialogue are too long, and it sounded a bit guttural or sinus-y, but that’s just one piece. This story went from 1 to 5 (out of 10) and just hovered at a 4 the whole book. Honestly, even the sex scenes were minimal and boring. It was about as exciting as me reciting my Target run with an extra stop for coffee.

I’m being snarky, but these books are getting more and more expensive. I have the 2 credit plan but I go through 2-3 books a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. A book is usually about 7 or so hours long and an average of $13-$14 a book (or per credit)… this adds up and the storyline feels like a $.99 wonder.
