About this listen

Krista Galloway is not a fan of Christmas. After her rough childhood in multiple foster homes, the holiday season just brings too many bad memories to the surface. But when she accepts a job as a city manager in the mountain town of Winter Hill, Washington, Christmas is part of the deal.

The small town is famous for its Christmasville celebration, something that the city manager...well, manages. As she tries to make her tiny new apartment feel like home for her and her eight-year-old daughter, Emily, Krista begins to wonder if this move was a mistake. She doesn't always feel welcomed in the close-knit town, and Emily continually wonders Where's the snow?

Can a friendly stranger and his family help restore Krista's Christmas spirit before the big day?

Christmas Town

This is a cute story set in a little town that almost goes overboard for Christmas. That just might be what is needed to help Krista find the spirit. There is definitely magic and spirit in the air. Narrator does a great job with the voices.

Sweet, short, fun Christmas read

I liked this book overall. The v ending seemed a bit rushed, but it was great other than that!

A Hallmark movie kind of book

A light, quick listen if you want to get into the holiday spirit. I keep a stockpile of holiday books and push through them during Thanksgiving to the end of the year. This is easy background listening while you are walking the dog, driving, decorating or cooking. No depth, just a nice story with a nice ending. No grinch in this story!
Narrator handled the book and the voices very well.

This is a charming small town Christmas story.

I enjoyed getting to know Krista and her daughter Emily. They are working to adjust to their new life in Winter Hill when they move just before Thanksgiving. They have arrived just before the busiest time of the year in the small town. I liked seeing how some of the residents just opened their hearts and welcomed them in, befriending them from the first time they meet.

I like the fact that Krista is willing to deal with hard issues at work to make things better for the small town and all of the residents. She stands up for what is right even though it brings difficulties for her personally.

I really like the narrator and will be looking for more books that she has done. She changes her voice for the different characters which helps to follow the story. It isn’t drastic differences but it is noticeable.

Good story, but the narrator...

The story is good enough, but the narrator didn't do a very good job of moving from character to character. Also, several works were not pronounced correctly. It was as if someone was reading the book to me rather than being immersed in the book.

Finding Christmas Spirit!

This was an enjoyable, short-ish Christmas story to listen to.
I thought Krista was brave, moving to a small unknown town with a completely different climate. I liked eight-year-old Emily's sense of adventure and her positive outlook.
It's an uphill battle for Krista, not a big Christmas lover when she gets tossed into the thick of Winter Hill's Christmasville celebration. She also finds some irregular financial records causing more trouble for herself. I liked the resolution to the problems. I was also very happy when Emily got to see her first real snowflake!
I thought the narrator was acceptable, there were a couple of times is was difficult to know who was talking, the voices were so similar.

Sweet Christmas story

This is the story of a single mom who moves her young daughter to a small town dedicated to their annual Christmas celebration. There is a sweet romance, a little mystery, and a holiday story.

A very sweet Christmas Story

This was a very sweet Christmas story. I just wish there was more to it. The romance could have offered more, but overall a really sweet story. It was a good listen while wrapping Christmas gifts this year. I enjoyed the narration as well.
