About this listen

The prayer that Jesus gave his disciples as a model, commonly called "The Lord's Prayer", asks that God forgive us as we forgive others. That's a really scary thought! God forgiving us as we do? Nancy Leigh DeMoss explains how forgiving like God is a choice that frees us from the burdens of bitterness, anger, and isolation. If you struggle with long-held hurts, God's truth and Nancy's wisdom offer help and healing for you.©2006 Nancy Leigh DeMoss (P)2006 Oasis Audio LLC Ministry & Evangelism Spiritual Growth Inspiring

speaks to all of forgiveness

I found this to be chock full of scripture to support, encourage, and inform the subject of forgiveness. It did a good job of speaking to the many areas that can keep one from forgiving. I found it very helpful personally and have ordered a hard copy of the book to highlight as well as to mark many of the scriptures in my Bible. At first I thought I would not like to listen (first book I have listened to in it's entirety) but after 30-60minutes I realized I had grown to enjoy it, started liking the narrators voice and saw how hearing helped me to hear things I might not have if I had only read it.

Amazing Message

This is an outstanding book! It speaks to every believer.

There was one thing that annoyed me... the very loud music. That could easily be removed for a better listening experience.

Awesome Book on Forgiveness

I learned so much about forgiveness especially that we just don't forgive for obediences sake but there is a high calling in Christ Jesus to forgive. I love the fact that the book tells us what true forgiveness is and is not that really broke some barriers for me.

This book is for anyone who desires to have great relationships

Whether we want to admit it or not we all have people in our lives that’s we have to choose to forgive. It’s the only way to have a true sense of peace about them and ourselves. This book was very convicting and encouraging about making that choice.

Thorough, life changing

This book covers every aspect and situation, both large and small, challenging our views toward past circumstances and persons involved. It reveals the ideal and the how to. A must read. And a great book study for any group.

Wow

This book was life transforming for me. It identified issues that I need to work on in my own life. As a Christian, it was a good reminder of reasons why we make decisions that non-Christians may not always understand. Even if you think you do a good job of forgiving others, you will benefit from the insights shared in this book.

Very Traditional view on forgiveness.

Too anecdotal. It was difficult to relate to the sweeping stories of people forgiving murderers and Nazis.

The more "relatable" stories seem to overly focus on forgiving the cheating husband scenarios. Very gender normative and conservative view on women's plight. Stories always ended with woman accepting back the husband (which was equated with forgiveness) and being blessed for it.

Argued that forgiveness was done in one moment in time statement and that it was completed. She said the forgiveness grows And evolves from there but failed to fully deal with the possibility that your heart may not cooperate with you in the forgiveness intent and statement.

At one point she suggests that gay sex can be a consequence of underlying bitterness and unforgiveness. A very typical evangelical take which lacked any basis in research or study...

Overall unhelpful for me but there were some attempts to propose a technique to jump start your heart into forgiveness that I will try.
