Publisher's summary

Aliens are among us. And humanity's only hope just happens to carry pom-poms.

Laura Clark thought she was just your average college freshman - until the day she saw a cheerleader on a skateboard get into a superhuman brawl with a lightning-wielding stranger in a trenchcoat. And the weirdest thing of all? Nobody else saw it happen. Nobody, that is, except the beautiful but standoffish Shailene, one of the mysterious (and possibly super-powered) cheerleaders from Laura's rival school, Bayview University.

When girls start disappearing all over the city, Laura suddenly realizes that she may have seen more than she should. And if she wants to keep from disappearing herself, she needs to find some answers. But even though Laura can't shake the feeling that they're somehow connected, Shailene is more than a little reluctant to share her secrets. With strange, bug-like creatures and a sinister man in a dark coat stalking her every step, Laura will have to uncover the truth fast if she wants to survive.

The fate of the planet just might hang in the balance.

Good story, B-movie name

A good adventure book with aliens, sci-fi sleuthing and wlw. I learned far too much about how a sorority house works and definitely had to nod in agreement far too many times as the main character goes into details about her Filipino family. It does tend to drag in places but overall a good read.

Fun, light, action-packed sapphic romp

Fun, light, action-packed sapphic romp. Full of Marvel references, both explicitly called out and not. The ending was not a full resolution of the big conflict and this seems to be intended as the first episode in a continuing story.

Delightful fun from start to finish!

This book starts off fun and lighthearted, and gets thrilling and engrossing as the action tumbles into the third act. Depictions of mixed race (in more ways than one) families ring true with my personal experience, and the f/f romance is very sweet and touching. The story lends itself very well to a sequel, but it doesn't end on a cliffhanger or anything; Cheerleaders from Planet X can definitely stand on its own as well.

Narrator Adrian Mayes is compellingly emotive. Verbally arresting, especially when hitting emotional exclamations in dialogue. I'd definitely listen to more stories read by Mayes.

This story was just so much fun. Do yourself a favor and get it!

hmmm

well written. some excellent points about diversity and how there can be no all good or bad people but the some things didn't seem realistic as silly as that sounds even with suspended belief. still unsatisfactory ending, since everything seems to be brushed over with an easy breezy ending when they were almost killed.hmmm
