Publisher's summary

Everybody in the small town of Chapel Springs, Georgia, knows best friends Claire Bennett and Patsy Kowalski. It's impossible not to, with Claire's zany antics and Patsy's self-appointed mission to keep her friend out of trouble. And trouble abounds.

During an early morning discussion at Dees 'n' Doughs bakery with their ladies group, all Chapel Springs entrepreneurs, attention is drawn to the slackened tourist trade. With their livelihoods threatened, they join forces to address the town's revitalization in hopes of drawing back the tourists. No one could have guessed the real issue needing restoration is their marriages.

Claire, a pottery artist, stumbles through life with her foot in her mouth. When she became a Christian, she thought life and her marriage would be included in the new creation part. But her thighs are just as big, and her husband, Joel, is as ornery as ever. She's become nothing more than a sheet changer, a towel folder, and a pancake flipper. Her life is humdrum, and she's tired of being taken for granted.

Patsy has plans for her empty nest, plans that include a cruise ship. However, her husband, Nathan, continues to work long hours, and he's not talking about slowing down. In fact, he's not talking much at all. She's asleep long before he comes home each night. At first, she thought it was just because of tax season, but now she's not so sure. Something other than work seems to keep him late at the office every night. With the lines of communication closed, she'll have to find another way to reach him.

With their marriages as much in need of restoration as the town, Claire and Patsy embark on a mission of mishaps and miscommunication, determined to restore warmth to Chapel Springs and their lives. That is if they can convince their husbands and the town council, led by two curmudgeons who would prefer to see Chapel Springs left in the 50s and closed to traffic.

Great Read

I enjoyed this book so much. Reminds me of some of my friends. I kept laughing at some of the Claire would do.

Chapel Springs Revival

This was a funny novel about two good friends and their small town needing a make over. At the same time they think their lives might just need to be re-booted as well.I laughed as I followed their adventures and mis-adventures as well. Lessons learned along the way were well done. The Southern humor was an added bonus.

Stopped in the 1st chapter

Story has potential, but the narration is AWFUL. Both the voices and the recording/sound. If not for the narration, I could've enjoyed it I believe.

Revitalize

Claire Bennett and Patsy Kowalski, best friends for as long as they can remember, with the help of some of their friends and other town members decide it is long past time to revitalize their small community to bring back the tourists and while they are at it, revitalize their marriages.

Ann Mulligan has created a humorous look at living in a small town while dealing with many important issues. I really enjoyed the unintentional mischief Claire got into and her friend's and family's attempt to rescue her and to keep her from more.

FYI: God and church plays a prominent role in the book.

The narration herd of Julie Lancelot, Sherry Grenader, and Jean O'Dell did a good job of portraying the voices and personalities of the truly entertaining characters.

Story is wonderful, 2/3 narrators are not

I enjoyed this story very much. I enjoyed the humor, and found myself interested in the couple's marriages and what was going on in them. However, two of the narrators nearly made me stop listening. One was especially bad, putting accents and pauses in inappropriate spots. The main narrator did a very good job. I'm glad I stuck it out though. The story was worth it.

A Revival is needed for this Story

Is there anything you would change about this book?

choice of narrators. The main narrator did a decent job (voice of Claire). The others took away from the flow...especially (Patsy). Jokes were lost between best friends.

What three words best describe the narrators’s voice?

Hard to answer. I think the story would have had a better chance if one narrator would have performed the entire story.

Do you think Chapel Springs Revival needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I think the concept of reviving a town as well as some marriages, had some potential. The performances just threw the listener off and I could not get back on track.

Any additional comments?

Great story and perfect narration

The story drew me into the lives of the friends in Chapel Springs. It is woven so beautifully that I could easily picture the people and events in my mind. The narration is clear, and the characters are quickly brought to life with the narrator's inflection. You will laugh and cry as you journey through this story of friendship and love.

Funny!

Small town fun! Full of interesting people and a few feisty characters! There are a few problems that Claire tries to "help" fix. She also gets herself into very unique situations. Lots of laugh out loud moments! There are several touching moments too.
The lesson of communication comes through very well.
I loved Claire and Patsy's friendship. I can't wait to read more adventures in Chapel Springs!

Disappointing

I had such high hopes for this book. I just don't know what to say. It wasn't all bad. It wasn't all good. Maybe it'll come to me what to say about it. But right now I'm just left shaking my head.
