About this listen

You can't always recognize the face of your enemy.

Two thousand years ago, the legendary mathematical genius Archimedes was poised on the brink of the greatest discovery in human history when his life was brutally snuffed out. His murder has never been explained.

While investigating the strange Paracas skulls - believed by some to be the remains of extraterrestrial explorers - archaeologist Jade Ihara receives an unexpected visit from an old foe seeking her help against entities he calls "Changelings" and their plot to manufacture a false chapter of human history.

Hounded by radical extremists led by Atash Shah - a man bent on becoming the Mahdi prophesied to unite the Islamic world - and haunted by the faceless puppetmasters who secretly control the world, Jade must follow the trail of clues to uncover a deadly truth that has been erased from history.

Can she solve the mystery of Archimedes' murder, or will she become the next victim of the conspiracy to hide the truth?

The Adventure Continues

This book was full of intrigue and danger. The pace was steady and at times heart pounding. The narration was excellent.

Another great Jade Ihara adventure!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I found I really enjoyed this book. It has the same action/adventure feel of the first book with decent narration. The plot is different from the first book which gives it an episodic feel (like the Indiana Jones movies). Actually, it is more like a short-run show called Hooten and the Lady, but with the Lady being more of a bad ass. Anyway, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes these sorts of stories.

Conspiracies, Aliens, Archeology = Great Thriller!

After listening to book one in the Jade Ihara Adventures, I was excited about receiving book two at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy by either the author, publisher or narrator via audiobook blast dot com.

Changeling is a fast paced archeology thriller that weaves in actual conspiracy theories which makes the story both entertaining and eerie. From the beginning to the end, it is full of non-stop action, and plenty of plot twists.

I have not listened to the Dane Maddock Adventures yet, but from reading other Audible member's reviews, it sounds like Jade was not a likable character in that series. However, in the Jade Ihara series, she is turning out to be one heck of a "Lara Croft," and I really like how she, and the "Professor" work together.

If you like conspiracies theories, and archeology, this story will be a good fit, and I do recommend it.

Action packed

What did you like best about Changeling? What did you like least?

Jade, she was a solid character, strong, smart, determined, and I liked the Professor too. I'd like to read more about them.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The conspiracy theory aspect was interesting, I enjoyed how the story started out in ancient times and progressed from there. The level of detail and background information was impressive. I also liked that I didn't guess the entire plotline; I found the addition of the Freemasons an interesting twist and I liked that they weren't the "key" to the story.

What aspect of Jeffrey Kafer’s performance would you have changed?

I didn't get his Australian accent, it didn't sound like the Aussie's I know. He has a nice voice, and I would buy a book narrated by Jeffrey in the future.

Was Changeling worth the listening time?

Yes, it was an enjoyable listen, I used 1.25 listening speed, which is my normal listening speed.

More Professor plz

Would you consider the audio edition of Changeling to be better than the print version?

I always enjoy the audio version of books if the narrator is great, which Jeffrey Kafer is. He is one of my favorites.

Would you be willing to try another book from David Wood and Sean Ellis ? Why or why not?

Absolutely. Even tho I was not into this particular series as much as others, it was a good story and worth the listen.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Jade fell into the water filled cavern. The descriptions of "seeing" other beings while trying to find a way to escape was very well done. My true favorite in this story was the Professor, I wanted more scenes with him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing too extreme.

Fast, action packed, mysterious forces!

Changeling
Jade Ihara Adventures Book 2
By: David Wood, Sean Ellis
Narrated by: Jeffrey Kafer
I love these books! They're like a female Indiana Jones! Lots of action, mystery, touch of fantasy, suspense, and loads of fun! In this book Jade and the Professor are searching for the truth about Archimedes death, and secrets that have been kept from history. While they are pursuing the truth, the head of a Muslim group is after them and another group that is a broad branch of extremists that have changelings, someone made to look like others. So Jade and Professor have to resort to strange tactics to stay alive!
What a wild ride! Changelings, extremists, deadly secrets, thrills, and lots of suspense!
Narration was terrific! Really put you in the action. I picked this book due to who was narrating and boy was I happy with both narration and content!

Another One

it seems that David Wood lacks the ability to write a book less than awesome. This is another great read and I'm ready for another Kismet book too!!!!

Great story!

I got previous books for review and bought this one because I had to know what happens next!!

So good! Packed with adventure. Great character development across books. Not too much relationship/ love. Good balance of mystery, suspense and action!
10/10 recommend.

I expected more adventure and archeology.

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."

I expected more archeology and adventure from this book so I was a bit let down. The plot is more about hidden conspiracies and mock terrorists trying to take over the world. For that specific kind of story I guess it delivers, but I am simply not the right public to appreciate it.

An adventure with danger at every turn

Would you listen to Changeling again? Why?

Absolutely. The theory behind it all... There is so much background and support created to endorse the theories. The story is written nice and tight with the information. We reflect on the same pieces a few times, adding to the information each time to see how it actually fits with the story. The story leads to the pieces we need, and the pieces lead the story. I did take my time in listening, noting and reflecting on each piece of information we learn. I was determined to follow their paths.

What did you like best about this story?

This book takes the twist on the calendar and all that people have done to make the passing of time easy for us to understand and live by and uses it to create a mystery of old. There is so much we have done to create the calendar we use now that it's a wonderful secret to time, lost time each year. There is also mention of suspension that there are a fake 300 years added to history. This is where some in the world could get upset as what happened in those years would be false and what they believe then... false. People would kill for their beliefs. Add to that a secret vault created and filled, with secret weapons, by Archimedes. It's been hidden and protected all these years by what could be the Changelings, so no one has access to it when it opens every 1,000 years.

The story had me curious as to what was really going on. The authors kept me guessing throughout the book. The Changelings and the vault. What is the ultimate end game for it all? I was not let down in how it all came together. It never fails, these authors and stories give us an adventure with danger at every turn of solving the mystical mystery.

What about Jeffrey Kafer’s performance did you like?

Oh! Jeffrey does an Australian accent for Norris. We also get a Scottish accent quick when Jade visits Scotland. There are a few accents that Jeffrey slips into with ease as we listen to the story. I do find his voice ever so easy to listen to. And I find that even though his voice is easy to listen to, it does not distract from the story. The story has my attention and my curiosity. I love that Jeffrey doesn't give hints away as he's narrating.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I did! But I am also the type of person who likes to let what I learned sink in. There is a lot to absorb from these stories, and I enjoyed the time thinking on it as much as listening.
