About this listen

Some of Diana Lindstrom’s fondest memories involve childhood experiments conducted under the watchful supervision of her Great-Aunt Nora, a celebrated physicist long ago shunned by the family for mysterious reasons.

Now in her adult years and a sought-after scientist herself, Diana learns that Nora is dying. She hires private-duty nurse Brooke Sheldon to care for Nora. Over the days and weeks spent in Nora’s company, Diana and Brooke are privy to Nora’s long-held secrets, along with her deep-seated regrets.

Trapped in a failing body, but with a keen mind, Nora Lindstrom watches as the spark of attraction between her great-niece and her caregiver grows into a flame.

Determined to help the two younger women find the kind of deep love they so richly deserve, Nora makes a fateful decision that brings the past and the present directly onto a collision course. After all this time, it’s still about chain reactions.

Family!

This is a fantastic story!! It gave me all the feels. I often found myself laughing out loud or teary eyed during the sad moments. The ending is exactly perfect and I cried at the goodbyes at the end. I hope there will be another novel containing the lives from this book!!!!!!

Nice story better to read than listen

A nice well crafted story about relationships. The narrator was terrible, Nora and Julia voices were not on. Nora sounded like a guy, and Julia sounded too hard. I almost couldn’t get though the book because of the narrator.

Linda L, review for chain Reactions

I love the story, I thank you Lynn for this audio book.. how you took the sorry from the beginning and step by step along the way was like being there. I fell in love with the characters and needed tissues along the way. It was a great story and I encourage readers to read it. And thank you again for being a awesome writer.

Excellent story!

This was an excellent story! The plot development was well written and the characters were very believable. Aunt Nora sounded like a decent person that had to put up with a lot of loss till the end when her suffering ended. Her beloved Mary came to her senses at the end and made amends for the way she treated Nora back on the forties. Diana and Brooke were able to be with Nora till the end and she was not alone. They were also able to come to their senses and have the happily ever after they so aptly deserved.

The narrator was not bad but her voice was kind of distracting instead of drawing you into the story.

Narrator

Strong storyline but it was very hard getting passed this narrator. the the narrator reads she needs lighthearted material not series and sad material. this book could have had a much bigger impact with Abby Craden or Angela Dawe or Lori Prince.

Loved it

I love Lynn Ames’ writing, she is clear, very imaginative, and just like before I loved this book together with Emily Beresford narration it was a pleasure to listen to.

Excellent!!

This was a fantastic story! It is always nice to see main characters who are in their 40’s and 50’s. We still love and get into life situations even at that age!! Although some of the plot flow and specifics are a bit far fetched, it was well done and made for a great journey!!

Worth listening

I loved the story and didn’t want it to end. It’s a tearjerker but worth a listen. I will say that the narrator was a bit much. She sounded like she was always arguing and at times it was annoying. I put the volume down so it wouldn’t bother me much because I wanted to listen to the story! It was all worth it!!

Excellent story

This story does an excellent job of blending the lives of the three main characters. The story of love lost and of a new love that is starting to grow. It tells the history of one of the women scientists in WWII who worked at Oakridge that helped win the war yet were not given credit for all they accomplished. This is definitely a must read. This is the first book that I have listened to by Ms. Ames and I look forward to reading more of her works.
