About this listen

"Maybe we live our lives constantly becoming and rebecoming. Maybe we're always in the process of metamorphosing into something new."

In her journal, writer Piper George notes the change of seasons. Each entry marks the passage of time since she became a teen mother and put her baby up for adoption. Her words flow together, painting a picture of loss, hope, and enduring love for the daughter she's never forgotten. But one autumn, a new presence appears in its pages and in her life: her neighbor, Edward "Ned" Chesterfield.

As winter thaws to spring, Piper and Ned develop a friendship that could be something more... if only Piper would open her heart. But the loss of her daughter has irrevocably shaped her life. And having given so much of herself away, she's not sure if she can give Ned all that he deserves. But with him at her side, Piper just might learn that a heart's love is never truly lost.

Heartfelt and well written. I loved this book.

What made the experience of listening to Carry Her Heart the most enjoyable?

The narrator made all the difference Christina Traister read the book so well and made me feel like you're watching the story on a big screen..

What was one of the most memorable moments of Carry Her Heart?

The most memorable part to me was Amanda's graduation. At that point the flood gates opened for me. Wow! That's all I have to say.

Have you listened to any of Christina Traister’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to other books read by Christina Traister. I actually lean towards books that she narrates. She reads the book so well. I love listening to her voice. She's a great narrator.

If you could take any character from Carry Her Heart out to dinner, who would it be and why?

If I could go out with a character from the book I would have to choose Ned. What an awesome guy!

Any additional comments?

This is a great story by Holly Jacobs and very well read by Christina Traister. Please have Christina narrate more books!!! I love her!

sweet sentiment

narrator was okay. Ned sounded depressed but her effort was good enough to push past.
storyline was good. never had an interest in adoption plots but glad I listened all the way through.
so very thankful that there were no descriptive sexual content to skip over. it was quite PG.

Loved it!

You become a part of this story, and as the character grows, so do you! This book is one of those rare finds that manages to be well written and lovely but honest and unique at the same time. This was such a refreshing story and the characters come to life. The feelings of love, confusion, happiness, loss.... were overflowing.

Melodrama but wonderfully so : )

A tearful but happy story. A little too neat and perfect but it is escapist literature that you can listen to knowing it's predictably perfect.

Not a trashy romance novel

What did you love best about Carry Her Heart?

This book had heart and soul. I appreciated the subject and the way it was written about with depth.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Obviously the main character Piper. I liked Piper because she wasn't one dimensional. I could really feel her story in a meaningful way.

Which scene was your favorite?

The day Piper and Ned adopted the dogs and walked with them by the water.

If you could take any character from Carry Her Heart out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Piper's mom. I would take her out to dinner because I could commiserate with the guilt she felt as if she failed her daughter some how.

Any additional comments?

The story didn't seem at all contrived. Whereas some novels are very much wham, bam, thank you ma'am, this wasn't. It was more like a fine after dinner wine that you could savor and enjoy even after the glass is empty.

Heartful

Enjoyed the story line. Very true to life. The voice of Pip was great. But at times I had to laugh at Ned's voice.

Beautiful!

Truly enjoyed this whole reading. Don't read at work if you cry easily. Definitely would recommend. ENJOY. Only thing is...women should not try to do men voices.
