Publisher's summary

"The training levels have concluded. Now the games may truly begin."

The ratings and views are off the chart. The fans just can't get enough. The dungeon gets more dangerous each day. But in a grinder designed to chew up and spit out crawlers by the millions, Carl and Princess Donut need to work harder than ever just to survive.

They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered prostitutes rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose.

Carl still has no pants.

They call it Dungeon Crawler World. For Carl and Donut, it's anything but a game.

If you liked book 1, this continues to deliver

From the start, this was a odd and unique dungeon crawler litRPG, what with a spurned jock and a prima donna cat as his partner. However, for all the hilarity that ensues as they delve from one floor to the next, facing unimaginable difficulties, they deftly overcome them with creative and oddball strategic maneuvers. The story elements are more than jocular exchanges, Matt Dinniman also manages to include many poignant situations and encounters as well. Even the few instances of low-brow jock humor comes off so unexpectedly that one cannot help breaking out with some loud chuckles so, fair warning, make sure you're not listening in church during your pastors sermon.

Jeff Hays' performance is fantastic throughout.

brilliant

Possibly the greatest litrpg or gamelit book I have ever read. I wish I was reading this guy's books sooner.

Litrpg: Good continuation from the first entry.

A lot of the recommendations I gave in the first review still apply here.
Likeable hero and side characters, Great narration and decent enough writing given the genre.

Good progression and worth the credit if you’ve started the series.

Betterized

Dinniman and Hays continue to level up this story in a story in a game — feels like a life sized metaphor. The story hooks the reader and reels them right in. Totally awesome follow up book better than the first — can’t wait to see the next.

will change after I've heard more.

so right off the back jeff is lacking in voices. it's like he got the contract for this series, and just stopped trying. mortici or whatever the guild leader's name is, sounds exactly like Carl all of a sudden. makes it hard to understand the difference, except for the tiny moments when he remembers the character is supposed to have an accent as well as a completely different voice. feels lazy, and I'm really let down.

Wowza

The second book in this real-life match up of video game doomsday mayhem is invigorating, tantalizing and absolutely astounding. The perfect amount of sass and brass that’ll keep you entertained and geared for book 3. The whole production, story and narration is what you hope for when listening to a book. Great job and once I finish the series I’ll buy the hard copy because it’s that good.
