About this listen

Magic never dies - it's inherited.

Eighteen-year-old Meena Song wants a normal life with a normal job and normal friends. Well, that ain't happening. Turns out magic is not only real but passed down through ancient lineages. Reality slams Meena right in the face as she is whisked away to an enchanted academy to discover who she truly is.

Oh, and apparently, witches are a thing too, but most of them are a-holes.

One of those a-holes happens to be the most powerful and arrogant warlocks at this prestigious manor in the woods. Everything inside of Meena is begging for her to run from this guy, but fixing this broken yet gorgeous man becomes an obsession.

It isn’t until someone is murdered that Meena discovers the immense, natural gift that courses through her bloodline.

Lies, murder, and magic...and that's just the first week.

Monotone narration

The stories are good but the narration was like pulling teeth. Very monotone, it took a lot of me to continue listening till the end. it has room for improvement. The story line is good.

Terrible narrator!

I spent most of this series cringing at all the mispronounced words. Instead of saying Salem (pr. saylem) she said Sal-em with a soft a. There were many more like this. I found it almost painful to listen to.

Horrible narration

These stories are good not the best I have ever read but good. However the narration is terrible, she mispronounces words pauses in weird places and chops the sentences up. I am a truck driver and audible is my go to as I love books, but this series I wish I had just bought paperback and read myself.

I loved it!

I loves Nina's story and how different she is from Remi, it was fantastic to learn about the witches in this world and to understand a bit more about the mysteries of what's going on!

Enjoyable

I give this collection 3.75 stars. I enjoyed it but until Episode Three, it was just average.

Book 1/3 Stars
This starts as a cute little story that blooms some darkness in the end,
I enjoyed the related school cliques including the mean girls; things don't change when you have magic.
This wet my taste for the rest of the safe.
The narration wasn't the best. When she did character voices, she was great but basic narration sounded like the automated machine they use to create voice content.

Book 2/3 Stars
The narration was more relaxed this time. That was good.
The story is beginning and end heavy; drawing out the middle with less importance.
Overall I enjoy it as a middle piece to this saga.

Book 3/5 Stars
This is the best episode in the series so far. Exciting and fun, Minah's adventure is getting darker and her life is getting complicated. The narrator's voice seems to have smoothed out and less stiff when not voicing characters.

Book 4/4 Stars
This episode is action-packed. I feel like the story could have been stretched out along the four episodes. The ending does leave me excited to read further episodes.
Readers should also consider reading Shifter Academy as this crosses over. I haven't read it myself and am unsure how going into the next episodes will be affected by that.

I received a copy for review; all opinions are my own.

Narrators

Although the story was good I had a had time keeping my focas during the first three books. Thank goodness that you changed narrators for the last book
Nara Naranjit definitely brought the story out of the ruins. She actually performed the story instead of reading the book as the first narrator did as if she had just learned to read English with no dramatic insertion. Thanks for ending the story on a positive note.

Great Magical Tale

I love a good Academy story specially when filled with magic. This story correlates to the same timeframe as Academy of Shifters. Seeing Mina from her original story has given great insight to the previous one read.

I did have a hard time listening to the robotic tone of the narrator. I actually wondered if the story was narrated by a computer type program similar to Siri or Alexa. Even with this insight, I’d definitely recommend listening to this story especially if you have read Academy of Shifters. As you are reading, you can’t help but to look at the story through a dual lense trying to figure out the intermingling of the two plots and timelines.

Excellent read!!

Good Series

I’m glad I had all four books together so I could continue right away. The story was interesting and grabbed my attention right away, I was totally engrossed from beginning to conclusion. Although, I wish It had not wrapped up in a cliffhanger.

Narration was ok and brought the story to life.

This series has mystery, suspense, action, adventure, magic, shifters and a touch of romance. I’m looking forward to the next book so I can find out what will happen next.

Story was good!

First off I like how the episodes came all together in one audiobook. I will say I with the rest of the series was with it. I got really interested in the story. I liked the characters fro the most part although I did get a little frustrated with the main character not learning from past issues. Now for the narration. I did not really like Chaleeya Yeh that much. I’m not sure if it was her tone or how it seemed like she made the main character sound even more whiny than she was but it took a while to get used to it. If I wasn’t interested in the story I would of stopped. Nara Naranjit was better for the forth episode not sure why you changed cause that does get confusing for the listener but I must say she was more pleasant to listen to. Neither was my favorite honestly. I can’t wait to see where things go next.
