Stories of courage that deserve to be told
I picked this up for my son, who loves history, and we both found it fascinating. The stories of bravery and resilience are gripping, and I appreciate how it highlights lesser-known heroes of WWII. It’s a compelling read that brings history to life in a way that sticks with you.

Inspiring WW2 stories across the pond
Inspiring WW2 stories that will inform and make you appreciate what these men and women had to sacrifice. The personal stories include various brave men and women and what they had to overcome during the war. I like that it focuses on the individual people so that we can know them better.

Worth listening to it
I studied English, so I definitely studied the wars from a British perspective, and this book taught me more than my years at college. Listening about those who literally gave up their lives (and also women who tend to be neglected in history) for an honorable cause was very eye-opening.

Short, gripping, true war stories not forgotten
You could make a feature-length movie out of some of these stories, so harrowing the action and remarkable the bravery. American readers tend to know much more about the American heroes, but the British were in it much longer in and have their own set of heroes. The accounts in this volume are well-told, well-documented, and well-narrated. By the end, I found myself wondering if Britain is still producing people of such high caliber.
