Beyond Golf

I've always tried to replicate going into "the zone" on command in many different sports. This book does a great job of explaining every detail of how and why your body and mind does what it does when focusing on your breathing. The audiobook is also very calm and relaxing as well. It's easy to practice these techniques while listening to it.

Get out of your own way

This is not your typical golf instruction book. It is about clearing your mind so that you can play your best golf. A golfer is his own worst enemy.

Read by author which is nice, read by female which I preferred for this topic, but shocked one star because I have a somewhat more difficult time listening to British accents. Also, the "why" is great and necessary but it seems to take up most of the book. Eventually she gets to the "how" and it is logical. Based on Eastern meditation principles. Can't speak to its efficacy yet.

I can honestly say this is the first technique/skill that completely get you away from thinking about any mechanical thoughts in the pre-swing face which then allows you to really free up highly recommend this book

Breathe

A sweet little book that offers a guide to better golf. Easily paced and presented. Sure help guide students of the game into a little unexplored realm. Loved the author’s presentation and pacing.

A meditative take on golf, must read!

If you've played one of your best rounds without giving it much thought or seemingly cruising through holes and don't quite understand why, this book might have some insight for you.

While fundamentals and swing mechanics are essential to playing well, once you have that this might be the next step in consistently playing at your best (regardless of your level of play).

listening tip for those that find the narration sub par, listen at 1.2x speed.

Took my game to next level

I always was able to play a few good holes in a round only to find myself falling into the same traps. I had been averaging in the 90s lately even though I broke 80 a few times 10 years ago. This last weekend I shot a 78 and an 82- all by using the breathing techniques in the book.

This book provides useful tools to help stay in the present and not get wrapped up in ego or “if I keep this up it will be my best round.” I can’t wait to listen again. The book will change your golf game, assuming you have a somewhat fundamental understanding of the golf swing.

Get to the point

One of the most frustrating books I have listened to in the last two years. The first five chapters are literally saying the same thing over and over again: breathing is important to staying present. OK, I understand. I believe you. That could be covered in the first chapter. The techniques are only presented at the very end. This book could have been a 20 page pamphlet. I want to acknowledge my deteriorating ability to take in information over a period of time. The internet has caused this impatient condition.

MOUTH CLICKS!!!

Didn't even make it to 1/3 of the book. Mouth clicks before every sentence are very distracting and annoying. very unprofessional sounding :/
