About this listen

Fail, and you lose it all. Win, and you lose him.

Braden is determined to get this resort project off the ground but has one little problem. He faces a very enthusiastic gang of environmentalists protecting puffins. And one of those protesters is awfully cute.

Jesse came to Castle Harbor to open the puffin refuge and never left. He’s willing to risk everything for his beloved wildlife habitats. Though he’s well-acquainted with wild beauty, he’s not expecting the habitat’s enemy to be so handsome.

When Braden confronts Jesse to discover how to get what they both want, the two realize what they want is unspeakable. This can only be worked out behind closed doors.

Can two deeply devoted men find those feelings in each other?

This enemies to lovers gay romance audio book features a pair of polar opposites afraid to lose it all, only to gain more than they imagined possible. This audiobook and all other audiobooks in this standalone series can be listened to in any order.

A Must Listen

This book is a heartwarming romance that gives food for thought about the environment. The person that did the voices for the characters did an incredible job. I can't for the next book to come out.

Love the Voice

I love this guy's voice. I don't know what it is about it but I just love the sound of it. There were a few spots that needed to be smoother but over all I loved this narrator.
This is the first book of JP Oliver's new series. This is the first time I was able to read the first in the series first. I am usually behind. I am excited to listen the next audiobook in the series.

good series start

Good story (providing you don't need a lot of character development or character background) with a good pace and an interesting cast of characters.
Narration was a little flat and it was sometimes hard to distinguish which character was speaking, but overall I enjoyed it.
I look forward to book 2.

Sexy

Jesse is attracted to Braden. Only they both have their jobs and principles that stand in their way. He does not want to want him, but the heart wants what it wants.

Braden found Jesse hotter than HOT - even before he knew they would become enemies. He runs into him everywhere, but no solution is there so far. If only he could stop thinking about him.......

The narrator is so fun to listen to. He makes all the different voices, and you feel like you are right there with the characters. I really enjoyed listening to this story. As for the characters and pace, I found it to be at a good rhythm. I am eager now to get to the second installment in the Castle Harbor series.

Quite Enjoyable

This audiobook was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Audiobook narration: Ryan Lee did a pretty good job of voicing the many characters. The pace of the narration was good. The pitch and tone of the voices he use for the characters was pleasant to my ears. There was a nice variance so the characters did not sound the same. Overall a good performance.

Story: I don’t know if you can refer to this as an “enemies to lovers” story but the was definitely some strong dislike going on. Jesse is an environmentalist extremely passionate about protecting the puffin sanctuary. Braden is a rich businessman developing a resort on land that happens to be right next to the sanctuary. There is some attraction when they first see each other. However, after they find out about who the other is the attraction seems to take a back seat but they ultimately can’t avoid it. I think the story was well thought out and while both characters are likable, I couldn’t help but root for Jesse. It’s a hot and sexy read with a surprising ending. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyable Story

A very enjoyable story that kept me entertained. I really like the back and forth banter between Jesse and Braden especially with the sexual chemistry buzzing all around them. Their arguing leads to some great explosive sex as they try to come to some kind of compromise about the resort. The narrator was okay but just a bit flat and monotone through a lot of it. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

sweet and engaging

This was such a sweet and fun read with developed characters (enemies to lovers). Jesse and Braden are both passionate, determined with strong opinions. This was a fun read with lots of action. The narrator did an incredible job. I can't for the next book to come out.

Good Start To Series

I surprisingly ended up enjoying this short low angst book. My only issue was the new to me narrator who did not vary the voices of the two MC but did great with side characters. He was also a bit monotone. That being said if you are looking for something light hearted it is still worth listening to or reading.

Enemies to Lovers mm romance

Breaking Ground by JP Oliver is about two polar opposite men; Braden, a suit who has been given an assignment by his higher ups and is determined to get his project off the ground and Jesse, an environmentalist loving puffin. You can only imagine the trouble when these two meet and differences clash. When Jesse came to Castle Harbor to open the puffin refuge, he never left. Castle Harbor is his home and the puffin refuge is everything he stands for and he’s willing to fight for that, even if it means sabotage the hot AF suit who’s appearance has shaken Jesse. So when Braden confronts Jesse, and tries to reason with him by collaborating to build the resort, emotions get tangled up and soon they discover that what they both want isn’t something they expected. Only time will tell if these two devoted men can work behind closed doors to discover what kind of passion they can agree upon. It comes down to trust and loyalty, not just with their life’s work but with each other.

Breaking Ground is an enemies to lovers gay romance novel that contains minimal drama, humor, and hot sex!

This is my first listen from Ryan Lee and although this does a good job, I wish he would given the characters a little more characters and differentiate their voices to show more personality. I’ll admit that I’m spoiled when it comes to narration and I tend to listen to narrators who play around with their voices but all in all, I think Ryan did a good job. As for JP Oliver, I enjoy reading his stories, they’re not to heavy in drama which I enjoy from time to time and he writes secondary characters well enough that I’d love to read about them. Overall 4 stars for JP Oliver’s Breaking Ground. Happy listening all!
