This is the best book I’ve ever read on the subject of overeating. The chapter writing prompts were an added bonus.

great perspective on emotional eating

overall, fantastic information, very motivational and encouraging in a realistic way. there were a few moments that felt out of touch or outdated, but I would still recommend it to anyone who struggles with bingeing or compulsive overeating.

Short

Unfortunately I did not read the details closely enough prior to purchase. This book was only a very short intro/story and I was expecting details on how to put these ideas into action.

Mostly OK

Book was fine, author is a nymphomaniac. Don’t get if you don’t want to hear the word “lover” a hundred times.

Anecdotes were good, analogies were clunky.

Not written for male emotional eaters, but does focus on empowering women.

Impactful for the some

I am a medical doctor and was referred to this book by my courageous daughter who has Binge Eating Disorder and Major Depression. She stated that the author’s insight, honesty, and simplicity “blew her mind”. I agree. It puts into words and clarifies many concepts that our family spent years figuring out...and that we are still working on. My daughter is doing well now, but I wish I had read this book years ago. This book will not be for everyone...will not be appreciated by everyone...but will be loved by some. I purchased both the written book and the audio book because of the convenience of listening to it given the particulars of my schedule this week. I will say that I preferred the written format in this case. The subject matter is intense and there are times when your mind wants to stop and reflect on the past. Although I enjoy audiobooks, in this case I preferred hearing the words in my own voice at my own pace. The reader was at times robotic. Overall I recommend the book for the subject matter. It has potential to save the life of an appropriate reader.

Helpful

I appreciate her advice in self acceptance. I don't worry so much about how I look and I'm done waiting until I'm a certain weight to live and appreciate life. This new Outlook has caused me to get healthier and loose weight. Thank you!

Female Focused

Good book, but wish I’d known how female focused it was before listening. However, most of the chapters apply regardless of gender.
