About this listen

In Fiasco, Kentucky, there is one rule: never fall for a Foxx brother. Any woman who did, ended up dead—or so the rumor goes. Townies call it a curse. But I’ve lived it, and I won’t survive it again.

I’m not a cop anymore, but I’ve seen enough danger to know that Laney Young, the beautiful stranger who just showed up in my small town, is running from it. She’s lying about where she came from and what she’s doing here.

I don’t want her near my family or the quiet life I’ve made for myself. But my brothers have other plans. Now she’s everywhere–working at my distillery, living in our guest house, calling me ‘cowboy’ and skinny-dipping in my horse trough.

But it’s the way she dishes out attitude from that pretty mouth of hers that has me wanting things I’ve sworn to myself I’d never want again. I should push her away, forget how her lips taste, and ignore how she makes me want more out of life again.

When her past shows up and mingles too closely with mine, her lies begin to unravel. The rules don’t matter anymore. I mess up, dig too far, and get too close. Only two things have the power to keep her safe now: bourbon and lies.

Duet narration- Connor Crais & Samantha Brentmoor
***holy moly these two narrating together is everything I could ever ask for. Straight 🔥 🔥 🔥

The cover of this book drew me in immediately! I also love bourbon and romance books so what is not to love. This book was so amazing. I loved every bit of it. Victoria Wilder wrote a fantastic book!

Laney is an event planner who ends up in witness protection. Fiasco KY small town known for Foxx Bourbon.

Grant is a former police officer turned bourbon barrel maker for his family’s bourbon business after a tragic work event.

These two characters have immense chemistry from the moment they meet. I laughed, I cried, I kicked my feet with the banter in this book. I can not wait for book two to be in audio!

*** if you struggled reading this PLEASE I beg of you give the audiobook a go. It will not disappoint you!

Good

I liked this book. the storyline was good, the cowboy nickname was a bit cringy at times, it started to get on my nerves, I think the male narrator did an awesome job, didn't really care for the female narrator , almost everything she said sound like a question, idk , it was her voice as the fmc , didn't care for it, she was fine as the other female characters but not the fmc, Connor crais did an excellent job. I may continue with the next book up depending on the female narrator.

AMAZING!

I loved this book SOOOO much!! I'm obsessed with these Foxx brothers and cannot wait to read more! I love romantic suspense and this one did not disappoint. This was my first book by Victoria and it absolutely will not be the last.

Grant experienced a tragedy and has sworn off women until Lainey shows up in his town. There was an instant attraction there no matter how much he tried to fight it. I LOVED how Lainey sassed him and was not afraid to give it back to him. She was a strong woman too. The banter between them was amazing... literally everything I needed and more. This was a slow burn but once it lit, it was absolute fireworks. They are perfect for each other. I cannot recommend this book enoughhhh!!! All the stars!

🎧Audio Review:🎧
This was duet narration by Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor. These two narrating together is absolutely perfection. Connor Crais with a country accent is something I didn't know I needed but now I need more! He played grumpy Grant SO well. Samantha was perfect at bringing the sass that is Lainey. They both totally nailed it. I loved it! I highly recommend this audiobook.

Not your honey, cowboy.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love this book more… bam! Samantha and Connor come in and have me hooked from the start!

Laney has to leave her life behind to come to Fiasco. She needs to keep who she is a secret and lay low, but that proves difficult when she finds acceptance. Friendship. And a grumpy cowboy she can’t stop thinking about and who doesn’t stop thinking about her either.

I loved their meet cute and the tension. Connor is unsurprisingly perfect as Grant, in how mistrustful he is of her at first, how obsessed he becomes with her over time, in how he fantasizes about her. In how he wants to keep her safe. And I think he has single-handedly changed my mind about the “honey” pet name.
And Samantha… I swear, every time she called Grant “cowboy,” she had me grinning. When she said, “Not your honey, cowboy,” she embodied Laney’s strength and sass, and I seriously cannot think of anyone else who would be better for this role than her.

While staying at the ranch, Laney pushes all of Grant’s buttons without even trying. Their banter was top-notch. Their connection was even better. And when he starts romancing her by just being himself… Come on, Connor. That was not fair!
When the slow burn burns this hot, you know it’s going to be explosive. The bourbon scene. The kitchen scene when Laney shows she knows what she wants and “Drink up, honey.” Connor and Sam… I have no words.

I loved all the emotions that came through from them. How they shifted each other’s worlds upside down. How they both started really living when they first met. How they started trusting and loving each other—there was a sweetness there that sounded so good! And yes, duet was perfect because it pulled me in even more.

I need to mention the accents because I loved them so much. And, as always, how I could easily tell which character was talking, even though there are quite a few secondary characters in the book. Sheer talent, people.

Laney is one strong heroine, and that really shines through. And when her past catches up to her, Grant is there for her at every turn and unwilling to ever let her go, but she still saves herself. Just like Kathleen Turner (IYKYK).

Sweet and spicy, fun, and totally captivating with a hint of suspense… I loved this audiobook.

Suspense, Spice and Bourbon? You cant go wrong!

Laney is in hiding after baring witness to something horrific and is taken to a small town in Kentucky to be placed in hiding for her safety. She is staying with the Fox family, the family behind Fox Bourbon, one of the most exclusive brands in the country. There she has to find her footing, starting a new life in a small town where everyone is curious about the new girl, but no one more so than Grant Fox.

Grant is a former police officer who retired early after a particular case left him leaving the force and finding refuge back into the family business. Not privy to the details of Laney's circumstance and sudden appearance, Grant is instantly curious as to why she's in his town and staying on his family property. Not to mention, he is unequivocally entranced by her; from her sheer beauty to her unfiltered mouth and sass, he's a goner for Laney pretty quickly.

As time passes, Laney finds peace and solace in her new life, making friends and connecting with the Fox family as she learns the ways of bourbon and what makes Grant tick. They start to steal moments together that only make the flame between them burn brighter, but Grant's curiosity gets the best of him, and his digging into her could put her in more danger than he realized.

This story was so good. Full of suspense, mystery, family, community, and when that spice hits... it HITS! Laney and Grant are fantastic together and balance each other out. They see each other in a way that is special to them. I loved this couple so much. And Julep is the literal best dog EVER! 🥹

Samantha and Connor were AMAZING in this! Umm.... I'm sorry... I was NOT prepared for Connor with a Southern twang, and it TOOK ME OUT! Samantha is an incredible talent and embodied the strength and sass of Laney so well.

This book is better in audio!

I love it when the narrator choice fits the characters. Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor did an amazing job bringing Grant and Laney to life. The Duet, just loved it!

All the interactions between the two from the moment they met and the "bourbon scene". SO GOOD!! And it was better in audio.

Now, that same feeling I had after reading book 1, waiting for book 2. I am once again ready for the audio to book 2!

Absolutely Fabulous!!

This is my favorite read of 2025! I enjoyed reading it alongside the audiobook, and both experiences were incredible. The narrators did a remarkable job of bringing the characters to life, perfectly fitting their roles. It’s a heartfelt love story that masterfully balances every element, and I truly mean every single one! Not a single trope felt overdone or irritating. It’s a flawless harmony throughout. This book was remarkable in every aspect. Wilder is a new author to me, and I can't believe what I’ve been missing. If all her works are this fantastic, count me in! I’ll be diving into her entire collection. My rating is infinity stars. For the author, book and narrators.

Phenomenal casting and book

The casting of this audio was such a SLAY! Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor are two of my absolute faves and bringing them in duet in one of my top reads from last year was such a joy. I loved getting to revisit Fiasco through these characters in auditory format. It really just made sit and enjoy the story so much more. Without a doubt this is an audio I will be making an annual listen. Thank you Victoria for delicious treat!

5/5 sweet as honey stars!

An already 5 star read that I could not WAIT to experience again in audio somehow got even better. Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor are 2 of the most elite narrators and this performance was a true and total KNOCKOUT. There’s just something about hearing some of your favorite characters being brought to life expertly. The way that they DELIVERED and left ZERO crumbs as Grant and Laney was everything I could have hoped for and then some.

I was beyond ecstatic to be back in Fiasco, this series and it’s complete and total CHOKEHOLD on me since I read it the first go round hasn’t lost its sparkle. If anything? This audio has just elevated it even more. These bourbon boys are truly something remarkable and this incredibly special cast of characters is can’t miss. I have shouted from the rooftops how insanely fabulous this series is for months now and I hope this audio gives it even more reach. If you haven’t made your way to Kentucky, you absolutely need to do it now. Let Samantha and Connor lead the way.

Grant Foxx and Laney Young are thrust into each others lives under circumstances beyond either of their control and as we watch both of their wounded souls become intertwined its literal magic. Zoltar magic. I love everything about this series, everything about these characters, everything about Victoria’s writing. These Foxx boys know EXACTLY what they’re doing. 5/5 sweet as honey stars.
