About this listen

Millions of threads so thin as to be invisible, so vaporous as to be ductile, drift through the classroom, emitting a chill and leaving a sense of unease. Hidden deep in their cloaks, the Blue Lights analyze the odors that cling to the individual cells of every child, from the top of each little head to the bottom of their ticklish feet and every dark secret place in between, from their gathering brains to their blood-soaked spleens. One girl feels dizzy; one boy throws up.

In 1918 Montana, the Spanish Flu, severe drought, and a myriad of strange phenomena plague the land. Fires rise in the night and burn down houses where entire families are trapped to die. Can one young mother protect her children from the fevers and the terrors while she unravels the mystery of the strange Blue Lights?

Unique horror story, very good.

Lovely prose writing and vivid imagery, as usual from this author. Pretty trippy too; I wasn't able to fully grasp the whole thing, but I suspect it was supposed to turn into a kind of fever-dream. Excellent listen in any case!

Interesting

very interesting short story that kept me guessing until the very end. Amazing that the author was able to put so much in such a short story. The narrator did a great job. The blue lights became very creepy with the narrator reading it.

I was a little lost with this story.

I received a free audiobook copy of this book for an honest review.

This is the second story I've listened to by this author, and I'm noticing a trend. I'm all for weird, but I was left kind of confused with this story, specifically with the ending. Overall, this was a sad story; I felt bad for the main character. Everyone is dying and getting sick around her, and she's simply struggling to keep her family alive. I'll be on the lookout for the next story this author releases.

The narrator did a good job; she has a nice narrating/speaking voice. I'd definitely listen to more of her narrations.

the blue lights are coming...

This is a quick horror story that is reminiscent of the Twilight Zone. The year is 1918 and the Spanish Flu and severe drought are plaguing the country. In rural Montana, a young mother is trying to survive while her husband has been deployed. There are some mysterious beings in town called 'Blue Lights'...they analyze children's body cells, which result in unexplained illnesses. Then there are the fires that consume homes with the entire families inside...all attributed to these Blue Lights. Will this young family survive or is this even real and not just a figment of a starving mom's imagination? I'll never tell...queque Twilight Zone music :-)

Who is the psychopath?

Another eerie short from Dona Fox. I start out reading her stories knowing there will be a twist I don’t see coming and determined to discover it. Well, I still never do. This short horror story is no different.
Who is the psychopath, mom,dad or the gal with no name?
Have fun figuring it out.
Ms. Fox is the new breed of horror writers. Looking forward to reading and listening to more of her work.

Haunting

Dona Fox is one of my go-to authors when I want a short, creepy read. This short story does not disappoint!

In the summer of 1918, a young mother is dealing with her husband being gone due to the War, her young son turning into a monster, pregnancy, drought, and the threat of a deadly Influenza outbreak. Ms. Fox has captured the fear, horror, despair and feelings of this time in this story. Her writing is often poetic and you can definitely feel all of the emotions. The author leaves it up the reader's imagination to decide what was real and what was a figment of a character's imagination or mental health. This is a story that will stay with me for a long, long time as I try to come to terms with all of the implications.

The narrator, Sarah Colton, does a good job and has just the right quality to add to the despair of the story. I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook version by the author and chose to review it.

Awesome Little Story

Dona Fox has done it again, another awesome short story. She just knows how to spin a great yarn. Also Sarah L. Colton did a fine job of narrating this story. I received this audiobook in a give away promo, and this is my voluntary review.
