About this listen

I was tantalized by the mystery of her. The leech inside me came out to find prey, but found none in this enigmatic girl. The close proximity of her essence didn’t entice the monster within, so what did that make her? I had more questions than answers, but one thing was unmistakable; although she released me from her embrace, her hold on me remained.

Cruel circumstances turned Curry Brennan into the wretched monster he hates and refuses to accept, but when an expected turn of events releases him from the bond of his obsessive maker, he returns to the home he knew 161 years earlier and finds the return of happiness and joy in something he didn’t know existed. Puzzled by his growing attraction to Chansey Leclaire, a human, he is unable to resist the captivating relationship that threatens to reveal his existence as a vampire. He eventually discovers the reason he was destined to find what he didn’t know he searched for and is faced with the cruel realization that the living and the immortal undead will always be separated by one thing. Eternity.

Editorial reviews

With Blood of Anteros Georgia Cates introduces self-loathing vampire Curry Brennan, weary of his monstrous lifestyle after 136 years spent among darkness. On the brink of suicide, Brennan is unexpectedly reacquainted with a long-forgotten emotion: Through the love and affection of Chansey Leclaire, Brennan finds renewed hope of escaping his terrible curse. Nevertheless, even as Brennan is rediscovering his freedom, it becomes increasingly evident Leclaire is not all she appears. Despite his dark subject matter, performer Ted Branson exudes an air of casual familiarity, at once alluring and authentic. As the brooding, suicidal vampire Brennan, Branson is surprisingly charismatic, fashioning a protagonist with whom listeners can relate. Indeed, Branson’s voice acting is vibrant and convincing throughout, whether he’s playing softhearted southerners or omnipotent undead.

Amazing...this is why I have the romance package

Every time I think I've read all the good books in the romance package I come across a book like this one. The depth in this book is amazing from story to characters. Only issues is this book ends abruptly so be ready to download the next.

Good story but definitely G - PG rating.

The story was ok but I am not even sure I would classify as romance. Maybe a love story. **Spoiler alert** It did end on a cliffhanger so maybe the couple will get together "physically" in next book after the wedding. I am not patient enough to find out.

The more I listened, the more I like.

I went into this blind and pretty much chose it for Tad and the cover. 🤷‍♀️ New author for me.
At first, I wasn't sure if I'd like this (picky with my vampire books), but once it got going...I'm really enjoying this. ❤ It's interesting and has a few new (to me) takes on the vampire trope.

Worth the listen

Loved it worth the listen
Great to see the dude was the hostage who hated the person who did the deed to him.
Great that family relationships support could be established and the human monster was taken care of in a timely matter

Terrible Narrator

Ugh, I hate it when a bad narrator ruins a good story. It had potential but he is terrible.

Interesting

This book was different from other vampire books I have read. I like it when they change up from the normal. However even though I enjoyed the book it wasn’t so good I couldn’t put it down and I won’t be listening to the next book.

Cringe

I literally took the headphones out of my ears the first time he voiced a child. It was beyond cringe worthy. The southern accent is also very hard to listen to. The female protagonist sounds like anything but feminine. And the story itself is a little hard to listen to. I feel like the story line could is interesting but the protagonist has trouble just being without even getting into the plot. He like stares at people and forgets how to talk. He’s a 140 or something vampire and he has the social skills of a 13 yo boy who just got transported into the middle of a cheerleader locker room. I am only an hour or so In, as I wanted to give it a fair shot but yeah… I think I’m done now.

Great view on a different aversion of immortality

Love the book, can’t wait for the next one. Like the change up of the whole vampire immortality story is told. Totally and always love the narrator! It’s so much better to either have one narrator for all parts, that has the ability to change the voices up, and Tad Branson gives an excellent performance!
