About this listen

TOP Name Writers Enter the Realm of John Ringo's Black Tide Rising Zombie Apocalypse Series!

A collection of all-original stories set in the Black Tide Rising series of novels created by multiple New York Times best-selling author John Ringo.

Stories by John Ringo, Eric Flint, John Scalzi & Dave Klecha, Sarah A. Hoyt, Jody Lynn Nye, Michael Z. Williamson, and more.

The news that humanity had been dreading for ages had come true. Zombies are real. Worst of all, we created them. The apocalypse was upon us, and every man, woman, and child had to answer a simple question of themselves: "What do we do now?"

For a group of neighbors in the Chicago suburbs of Northern Indiana, it was "work together or die"...and figure out how to live on top of oil storage tanks to keep the zombies at bay. For the Biological Emergency Response Teams in New York City, it was "how long can we fight off the infected before it's too late?" as well as having to fight other groups all out to claim a dwindling stock of supplies and safety. And for a group of cheerleaders, it was about the end of their world. And about what happens when you get a group of physically fit young women really, really angry.

Featuring original stories from some of the brightest stars in the science fiction universe: John Ringo; Eric Flint; John Scalzi & Dave Klecha; Sarah A. Hoyt; Jody Lynn Nye; Michael Z. Williamson; Kacey Ezella - cheerleading coach, veteran, and helicopter pilot; and more.

Still fun, some stories better than others

Narration is excellent. Mixed bag of stories. I enjoyed most of them, hence the 4 stars. Since most were written by other authors, glad they didn't touch the smith family.

Good yet unsatisfying.

Ringo never ever writes a finale for any of the series he starts. He always makes this awesome universe with characters I like,Dark tide rising and Troy rising, and then gets bored writing about them and introduces characters I don't really care about. I wish for once he could start a series and then write a conclusion for it.

worth it, definitely check this book out!

new take on zombies and how we pick up after, I first found out about John Ringo after he collaborated on monster hunter memoirs with Larry Correia. I took a liking to his writing style and picked up this book and was not disappointed! I chose to start his black tide rising series off here to get and idea of what type of story I had to look forward to. it gets better from here!

You will find a story you

This is a good book and an excelent audio performance. The reason i gave it only four stars was that there were some stories i enjoyed a lot more than the others and I wanted them to be the whole book. Buy this book and you will find a story you love... and all of your dreams will come true.

All of these short stories should be novels

What made the experience of listening to Black Tide Rising the most enjoyable?

Same universe from different perspectives

What about Tristan Morris and Tanya Eby ’s performance did you like?

fantastic job by both narrators

Any additional comments?

What an extremely enjoyable listen. I really do hope some of these turn into full novels, I would buy them.

Mixed Bag

The blessing of anthologies is that you get more of what you want... quality stories that expand the universe in a way that fits "your" idea of how it should fit.

The curse of anthologies is that you get stories that don't "feel" right because the tone, pacing, or in this case performer clashes with the environment you have grown used to.

All-in-all it was a good listen/read. 4.5 out of 5 stars would recommend.

More people survive than you expected

If you could sum up Black Tide Rising in three words, what would they be?

Damn thats harsh

Who was your favorite character and why?

Faith Marie Smith. Because, she is trying so hard to do the right thing. Yet she is a reincarnated war goddess who does one thing outfuckingstading and thats kill afflicted.

Have you listened to any of Tristan Morris and Tanya Eby ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to the entire Black Tide Series - they are all done supremely well. I do not know if i have listened to Tanya Eby before but she did well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Extreme no, Laugh yes, the conversation on the wall was straight out of you got to be fuc**ing kidding me.

Any additional comments?

John Ringo usually does four books and moves on, here is hoping that he will keep this series going a little longer.

stand my ground..

I really liked the idea of concurrent stories in the same universe as the Smith family. Its very interesting to see from different (authors) point of view. That being said I'm going to say the last story was still the best. Not sure if it's because John Ringo created the universe or I already knew the characters and could just be there more easily.
