About this listen

After an erotic one-week fling with a musician she meets in a bar, Thea Cunning never expects to see Levi Black again. Then Monday morning comes around, and she discovers that her former lover is not only her professor, but he's also one of the top criminal lawyers in the state of Massachusetts.

With everyone in class vying to be one of the 12 disciples - a group of 12 students that Professor Black takes under his wing - tensions run high. Thea considers dropping his class, given their passionate week together and their undeniable chemistry. After all, there are other (less infuriatingly sexy) law professors on campus.

But to accomplish her goal and get her father out of prison, Thea knows she needs to learn under the best of the best - and that's Levi Black.

But can she learn under the best, without being under the best?

Coloured rainbow for Professor Black

What did you love best about Black Rainbow?

I loved how this book captivated me from the start and ended exactly how it should have. No surprises but just good old fashion happy ever after. Both characters had their flaws but, they were both driven and worked hard for what they wanted. Having the point of view from Levi alternating with Thea's kept the flow of each individual reactions flowing nicely. I just loved how Levi was not only this tough untouchable professor who everyone was intimidated by, but, also was able to fight for that love, that he could so easily give. Thea was fantastic with her families predicament. What a role model for her sister. I loved how her sister evolved. Obviously having the unwavering love and support from her sister and grandmother allowed her to explore her darker side and come out the other end a better person.
The extra added sound effects I understand how they were annoying to some people. They neither distracted me or added to the story.

Which character – as performed by Aubrey Vincent and Marcio Catalano – was your favorite?

Both characters came to life with these very talented performers. I was hanging onto their every word.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I couldn't imagine anyone not having some sort of reaction when Levi finally found out about Thea's mother. I was guttered when Thea told Levi that her mother was the shark cos she ate her young. What mother could allow that to happen to their daughters.

Strong female lead

There is a strong female lead with some issues. I was only disappointed when the typical story line of female 23 and male 36 appeared again. I really wish writers would have same age sex.
It has a nice twist and a third 1st person introduced in the end

Couldn't stop listening

I listened to this book over two days - I just couldn't bring myself to turn it off. The narrators were great, particularly Marcio Catalano. His voice is velvety and deep, and so pleasant.

Please make characters sound realistic

I have to give credit where credit is due. The story is awesome, however, with the lead female character sounding so white, it brings you out of the fantasy the male voice has created

entertaining

believable meeting between the 2 protagonists and delightful development of a potential relationship when both were initially interested in a no-strings sexual week.
unfortunately, the resulting story is simplistic to the point of unbelievability. but the clincher for me was the innumerable grammatical errors. I was annoyed by the constant use of "I" instead of "me" but the "have went" did me in.

🌻Well written, but as usual, I just wanted more!🌻

This was definitely a different kind of love story. It starts with the Hero and Heroine having a week long hookup; with no strings attached, of course. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, they have an unexpected reunion the next day when they find they share the same college class. Although, they aren’t classmates, he is her instructor, in said college class. Of course, they both try to resist their attraction, since circumstances make a relationship between them, forbidden.

Their constant interactions, flame their mutual desires and They fail to keep their hands to their selves.

The rest of the story includes amusing and irritating classmates, interfering siblings, family tragedy, a bitchy ex-wife and a quest to right a horrible injustice. Ultimately, the storms are weathered but, as soon as the major conflict is resolved, the book suddenly ends.

If you have read many of my reviews, you’ve likely noticed that these type of abrupt endings are a common complaint, of mine. One thing I’ve always loved about Kristen Ashley’s novels, is that she always allows the reader/listener to experience some of the HEA, with the H/h and I don’t mean a quick epilogue. She allows us to live some life, including struggles and triumphs, with the characters. I really wish more authors would do this, it makes the story feel complete; in my opinion.

Unexpected

Good love story with twists and turns from the very intro. Back story unfolded organically and even though you thought you could guess how it would end, a last ditch curve ball was thrown at you after the trial. Very engaging and well narrated (though I had to speed up the pace of playback), I will add both these narrators to my search repertoire when choosing which books to listen.
