About this listen

Beyond the Aquila Rift: It's shorthand for the trip no one ever hopes to make by accident. The one that will screw up the rest of your life, the one that creates the ghosts you see haunting the shadows of company bars across the whole Bubble. Men and women ripped out of time, cut adrift from families and lovers by an accident of an alien technology we use but rarely comprehend.©2005 Alastair Reynolds (P)2019 ABP Editore Fiction Science Fiction Space

Good story, rushed narration

The story was good, and what I'd expect from this author. The narrator, however, seemed to be rushing through it as fast as he could, sounding almost breathless at points, which seemed generally inappropriate for the story.

Nothing New

This is an acceptable re-telling of an ages-old tale of woe. The SF is a backdrop, which is a good thing; but the story itself was far easier than most of Reynolds's other work

The reading was also OK. I might have given it a 4 if not for the musical breaks between sections.

Better than Love Death and Robots

I did enjoy the story in audio book form. It is short so not sure why they changed the ending. I love this story and will look for more by this Author

Great Story

the story was great but I thought the performance was a little to fast paced.

Probably my favorite short story.

After seeing the animated short on Netflix's Love, Death, and Robots, I really wanted to discover more of the story. Like usual, the source offers much more detail. My only issue with the audio book is they annoying music and bassy heart beat between chapters.

Kind of a weird book

I have to say, until the last 10 minutes of the book, it wasn't very interesting.

Amazing Dreadful Space Short. Bad Narrator

I loved it personally, wish there was more but it does have a short in Love Death and Robots. love it love it love it.

The narrator though really could've done better, droning voice that you get from a grade school teacher who hates his job.

New narrator

Tom Dheere ruins this book, he rushes to finish this reading and takes away from the story. Overall great story however Tom ruins it. Tom if you see this quit narrating and find a new hobby.
