Acerca de esta escucha

In this luminous prequel to her beloved Cobbled Court Quilts series, New York Times best-selling author Marie Bostwick takes listeners into the heart of a small Texas town and the soul of a woman who discovers her destiny there.…

Welcome to Too Much - where the women are strong-willed and the men are handsome yet shiftless. Ever since Mary Dell Templeton and her twin sister, Lydia Dale, were children, their Aunt Velvet has warned them away from local boys. But it’s well known that the females in Mary Dell’s family have two traits in common - superior sewing skills and a fatal weakness for men.

While Lydia Dale grows up petite and pretty, Mary Dell just keeps growing. Tall, smart, and sassy, she is determined to one day turn her love of sewing into a business. Meanwhile, she’ll settle for raising babies with her new husband, Donny. But that dream proves elusive too, until finally, Mary Dell gets the son she always wanted - a child as different as he is wonderful. And as Mary Dell is forced to reconsider what truly matters in her family and her marriage, she begins to piece together a life that, like the colorful quilts she creates, will prove vibrant, rich, and absolutely unforgettable.…

I've listened to all of the Cobble Court Quilts series, so I was delighted to find another series about one of the characters already introduced in this one. Mary Dell is such an interesting and unique character. Learning about the birth of her son, also a special character, and the beginning of Mary Dell's quilting career is great because after Cobbled Court Quilts, I had a lot of questions. This book is a fascinating story about good old down to earth people, held my interest the whole time, and begins to answer some of my questions. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, and I hope the series will be a long one.

Grateful for another series

Really really enjoyed this book and the Cobled Court Series.
I am not a quilter and can barely sew, but listening to these books makes me want to learn to do both.
I am sorry to have them end!

Makes Me Want To Quilt!!

I enjoyed this story but the narration had ups and downs for me. She did an excellent job portraying the characters. However, when it was just reading narration, her voice was so soft, and breathy, and she often let the energy leave her voice at the last word of a sentence, that I missed some of what was said. This happened through the entire book.

Fairly entertaining

I have always wondered if there was a novel of Where it all began, And knowing the rest of the outcome from other novels, it's like the light bulb comes on cuz you always wondered What made him leave? How did Templeton and the quilt shop start, and Man, There is other character history for those well loved characters. I love these that revolves around quilts, and so funny, because I just finished a Star Patch quilt for my adult daughter but it has a secret reversible quilt being constructed now over 2mo in the making called 'The lone Star'... it is like fate.

Would you listen to Between Heaven and Texas again? Why?

No, I purchased this book due to Natalie Ross reading it. She does such a wonderful job of bring all the characters to life. If you like a story with a journey of heartache and a H.E.A.E., then this is for you. This author is not for me. Well written, but there are other authors' stories that give you a smile alone the journey and leave you uplifted e.g. Jill Shelvis or Julie James, or Rachel Gibson

What other book might you compare Between Heaven and Texas to and why?

Julie London's Blackberry Island. Both of these stories are about women who cope with tragedies. Yes, these stories show how women persevere through their struggles, but with all that is going on in the world, I get enough of women's struggles to succeed.

Which scene was your favorite?

when the two brothers meet the twins for the first time. That is the happy highlight of the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are plenty of moments in this book that moved me. However, they are such doom and gloom, why would I want a second helping of it? If you like to see struggle, then how women over come it and keep going, then there are plenty of those scenes for you.
