About this listen

Siege the castle? In my own way. Save the world? If it’s worth my while. Create a bestiary business with a group of beautiful yet contrasting women? Fully achieved. Now the house is too crowded!

One moment I'm taking pictures of a fantastic sky beast, aided by a sassy witch, a pretty blonde, and a cute green goblin. The next we’re in bed for the night - and I can't get a lick of covers!

This house is too small. It wasn’t meant for this many people and a bestiary business. Problem is, not a lot of folk want a goblin and a witch in their neighborhood. It’s hard to blame them. We can be loud.

But there's a lonely house between this town and the city, isolated amongst the grassy fields. The townsfolk say it's haunted. I say it’s perfect.

All I need is the key. What I don't need is to get caught between the vicious rivalry of our snooty queen and an even snootier elf!

I just want the damn key. Why does the queen have it?

Also, her jester keeps getting in my way, and while I don't much mind the view - there’s more going on here than meets the eye...

fairly good

So the story is good. There a few things that could be better, but overall it's a fun book to listen to.

Female's volume needs to be turned up

The male narrator's voice is great however the female's voice is so soft you won't catch it unless there is no other noises in the room. Whether that's just because the narrator's speaking too soft or they're not equalizing the volume I don't know but that is my only complaint thus far.

A good sequel to the story

A little context for my review. I tend to take it easy on the first and last book of any story regardless of whether it is a trilogy or a series. Beginnings can be such shaky endeavors and not every story makes it to “The End.” I expect a sequel to be everything that made the last book good or great and then some. As my review title suggests the author pulled it off. Last time I critiqued the narration team. I was unfamiliar with their work, and they appeared to me to be uncomfortable with the sex scenes in the book. In short it sounded like they were reading those scenes as opposed to vocally performing those scenes. In this book except for one they came through. From what I can tell Mr. North has narrated quite a few books before this story while lady Bishop has only worked on this series. Of course, it is possible that they have published under another name. As for the story itself it felt to me as though there was an increase in the number of sex scenes. For me personally my tastes are that I prefer a story that has sex in it as sex is a part of life as opposed to a sex story. I did not sit down and tally every scene, but it felt like we went from a 20/80 split to a 60/40. My critique is not that I was offended but that it came off as disrupting the flow of the overall story. Now I am never going to tell an author how to tell their stories, but I do feel comfortable sharing those areas where I felt confused, bored, and what I liked or did not like and why. It also appeared to me that the original promise of the story seemed to get away from the author a little bit. There is no fighting in this story thus far and our main character is a photographer despite the character claiming to have a desire to learn how to fight and carry a weapon to protect his ladies. I am wondering if there will be a fight scene in the third book which as I understand it is the final book. I did like this book overall and have enjoyed the story overall. The author still appears to me to be new with a total of six books currently available on Amazon with four of those having been given the audio treatment. While it is possible that he is written under another name for this series as I have seen other authors wanting to separate genres by using pen names, I do not believe that is the case for this author. In the context of being new to writing I think he has done a fantastic job and I am extremely comfortable recommending this story to anybody still reading this review. Lastly, it is very rarely one person putting out a book and I would feel remiss if I did not pass along my thanks and a job well done to everybody who has had a hand in bringing this story to us. Thank you and good job all around.

I like the first book but this one is mostly about the politics rather then taking picture of the monsters

Not Bad

While I openly admit I am not a fan of the 'Male Fantasy' Genre I do like the story. The Main character's strange war of asserting dominance and having sex with nearly everything with breasts rubs me the wrong way, but if you can get past that the underlying story is pretty decent.

The story has gotten better

The story has gotten better, although I'm not accustomed to the English mannerisms. The narration is still a bit robotic, but much much better than chapter 1. The only thing I wish is that the characters had a different accent than British, I'd be thankful for that.

I love this

Slice of Life Harem is a delicious combination in my book.

It is very relaxing to follow the growth of the bestiary,
I like that there is political maneuvering added to the mix.

Character progression is wonderful, as is the narration.

I am looking forward for book 3!
