Acerca de esta escucha

At what point does a group of strangers become a community?

When young Bendigo Shafter and a ragtag bunch of travelers settle in the rugged Wyoming mountains, they quickly come to depend on a toughness and wisdom many of them never knew they possessed. Led by the beautiful and resourceful widow Ruth Macken, the settlers battle harsh winters, renegade opportunists, and the destructive lure of gold. Through these brutally demanding experiences, young Bendigo is forged into a man. But when he travels to New York to reclaim the love of Ninon, his childhood sweetheart, Bendigo is faced with new challenges. Will hard-edged instincts, honed from years in the mountains, serve him in the big city? Does Ninon’s heart belong to the lights and glamour of the theater? And if his destiny deems it so, will he be willing to leave the community he toiled so long and hard to build?

Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures is a project created to release some of the author’s more unconventional manuscripts from the family archives.

In Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures: Volumes 1 and 2, Beau L’Amour takes the listener on a guided tour through many of the finished and unfinished short stories, novels, and treatments that his father was never able to publish during his lifetime. L’Amour’s never-before-seen first novel, No Traveller Returns, faithfully completed for this program, is a voyage into danger and violence on the high seas.

Additionally, many beloved classics are being rereleased with an exclusive Lost Treasures postscript featuring previously unpublished material, including outlines, plot notes, and alternate drafts. These postscripts tell the story behind the stories that millions of listeners have come to know and cherish.

I just really liked the whole story. I had hard work to put it down.I really like Louis Lamour books.

The strong characters of the men of the West.

Outstanding and thought provoking story of not just a character, but how an individual creates and fits into a society. Throughout this listening I found myself feeling proud, fearful, and a bit envious of the main character's life, however fictional. It make you think of my own role in my life and society. I highly recommend this listen. I would have loved to read it at a much younger age. My life may have turned out differently.

The building of a man.

Great story and I like Scott brick as well . However I feel that they have missed the mark on this one. Scott is great at tech thrillers , like for instance Jurassic Park on audio wouldn’t be the same without him as the narrator . But I feel Scott’s voice isn’t that of Bendigo shafter . Just my opinion and I might be alone , but I feel that sometimes Scott is to shrill or screechy. The story itself is great and I like several characters who are recycled from other La’mour stories like Webb and Ethan and yurwishi , if you’re a avid reader of La’mour’s stories you’ll know what I mean , different characters but they are the same kinds of men . If you’re new to La’mour you won’t be disappointed in this one. Having read pretty much everything he ever wrote or own on audiobook , there are none that I can think of that I out and out dislike . Just some are better than others. As a stand alone novel this is top 10 I’d say . This is also a expanded story and the characters originally appeared in the short story war party , which was published in pulp magazines either under a different pen name or different title or both. The short story is good too and I’d recommend it as well , or anything La’mour is worth checking out.

Great L’Amour tale of the west .

I love this book because it seems to have all of the things Louis L’Amour loved in his books! Plus he has many life lessons in the book!!!

The story was great. I read it myself before it became available on Audible. The narrator sounded like he was freezing to death half the time he read the book. Like, involuntarily shivering in his voice. He got me shivering a few times as I was driving around listening and doing my job, and it's a little chilly up here in Alaska this time of year.

This is one of the jewels in La’Amour’s crown as king of the western story tellers.

The book to shape a boy into a man. Just as true for the reader as for the protagonist.

Finally! This book is now on audible. I had just relistened to Dune and decided to search for Bendigo Shafter for the 8th time and ding ding ding!!! And I laughed that one of the narrators for Dune did this book. Made me smile. This is a GREAT story. A classic coming of age story. A must listen to for anyone who loves the works of Mr L’Amour.

My most favorite Louis L’Amour

I invested a credit on this story because the reviews were good. But I believe they are bogus because the narration is so bad! The narrator does have some talent, but he overacts to the point of distraction. I was never in the story. I was always listening to an overacting narrator.
I was so disappointed. Plus, the story isn’t very exciting. It’s definitely a lost treasure. And there’s a very good reason. Louis didn’t publish this book when he was alive.

Terrible Narration
