About this listen
In "Behind the Curtain," the fate of civilization is precariously balanced.
Tucked away in a secret CIA bunker, Terry Ferrow, a genius in Artificial Intelligence, has dedicated decades to the "Bright Futures Project." His creation, an advanced AI neural brain chip, was meant to change the world for the better.
However, as Terry delved into his groundbreaking work, the world above descended into chaos. Society became trapped in a web of mass surveillance, its freedom slipping away under the watch of a corrupt government. These "Enlightened Ones" twisted Terry's invention into a tool of oppression.
The stakes couldn't be higher as Terry squares off against the monstrous reality his brain chip spawned. Can he break the shackles of his own making and free humanity from the jaws of a technological nightmare? Or will he be consumed by the very beast he unleashed?
Prepare for a gripping tale as Terry Ferrow battles to dismantle the chains forged by his creation. "Behind the Curtain" is not just a story about redemption; it's an epic narrative of a man fighting to save a world on the edge. Watch as humanity teeters on the brink in this pulse-pounding saga, where the outcome will determine the very soul of civilization.

"Confessions of a Section 8 Landlord" is a candid account of the challenges and rewards of managing low-income housing. This gripping collection of stories exposes the raw reality of self-managing a twelve-unit apartment complex in one of America’s most dangerous cities. With a sense of humor and a touch of horror, the author recounts their experience with tenants who go to great lengths to save on rent, run-ins with the local gang leaders, and multiple squatters who turn the property into their own.

Story
Quiet Quit & Fully Live is a thought-provoking exploration of the quiet quitting phenomenon, challenging the negative connotations it often carries. The book explores how stepping back from over-engagement at work can lead to a more balanced life, enhanced personal well-being, and surprisingly, a boost in workplace productivity. It argues that by setting healthy boundaries, individuals can reignite their passion for their roles and bring a renewed sense of purpose to their teams.

Super interesting!
This is my favorite genre, but the thing I usually hate about books in this niche is that it can take a while for things to ramp up and get to the good action. That is not the case with this book, it doesn’t take too long for things to start to ramp up and get interesting.

Hooked from Start to Finish
Terry Farrow, an AI genius turned reluctant hero, faces off against a corrupt government that’s twisted his inventions to control society. The story is packed with suspense, action, and twists that kept me guessing and completely invested in the characters. The tech and AI aspects feel eerily possible, adding a real sense of urgency to the plot. If you’re into fast-paced thrillers that make you think about where tech could take us, this audiobook is a must. It’s one you won’t want to pause!

This will make you see technology in a new way.
This book hooked me from the start. Terry just wanted to make the world better, but his invention ended up being used in such a terrible way. It made me think hard about how much control we really give to technology. Are we trusting it too much? If you wonder about the future of tech and who’s really in charge, you should read this. It’s powerful, eye-opening, and hard to forget.

Fantastic narrator
The narrator is awesome - that's the first thing to say. And then the book delivers everything you need. Suspense. Great pacing. And it's just fun to listen to. I dug it.

Enthralling and Innovative
Without a doubt, the most enthralling tale I have ever listened to was Behind the Curtain by Maxwell Stegner. The protagonist, Terry Farrow, is an AI genius whose works encompass clones, Al Brain chips, and many other inventions. Civilization, the resistance, the government-enlightened ones, and an exciting action adventure were all parts of this epic tale. I was tense and anxious the whole time. Terry intended to use his invention to improve the world, but the government used it to enslave humanity. Terry had to figure out how to free humanity. Although this narrative has a happy ending, the path to transformation is thrilling. After hours of nonstop listening, you cannot tear yourself away. Simply put, it is excellent.

One of the best dystopia, action-adventure stories I ever read.
It's been awhile since I've listened to a story that had me at the edge of my seat (even while driving). It has the right balance of mystery, intrigue, action, and plot twists that kept you guessing and rooting for the good guys. The way it was narrated made you care for the protagonists of the story, despise the antagonists, wonder if there was someone who was gonna betray them, and if the heroes were going to make it. Again, a great story. Nicely done.

Wonderful Story to Pass the Day
Maxwell Stegner's Behind the Curtain is a captivating blend of science fiction and suspense that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The novel masterfully weaves a complex narrative that explores the potential dangers of unchecked technological advancement.
Stegner introduces us to Terry Ferrow, a brilliant AI scientist whose creation, a neural brain chip, has the power to reshape humanity. However, the chip falls into the wrong hands, leading to a dystopian future where individual freedoms are eroded and surveillance is rampant.
The author skillfully balances high-stakes action with thought-provoking philosophical questions. The tension is palpable as Terry races against time to rectify his mistakes and save the world from the very technology he created. The vivid descriptions and well-developed characters immerse the reader in a dystopian landscape that feels both familiar and terrifyingly plausible.
Behind the Curtain is a must-read for fans of science fiction and thrillers. Stegner's masterful storytelling and compelling characters make this a truly unforgettable reading experience.

Great!
"Behind the Curtain" is a tech thriller that'll keep you up way past bedtime! It's like "Black Mirror" meets "Mission Impossible" with a dash of "1984" thrown in. Terry's journey from brilliant inventor to potential world-saver had me on the edge of my seat. The AI tech stuff feels scarily possible, and the corrupt government angle hits close to home. If you're into mind-bending tech thrillers that make you question our relationship with technology, this book's your next obsession. Just don't read it right before checking your smartphone - it might freak you out
