About this listen

Of the animals in North America, none commands such dread, awe, and interest as the bear. Creatures that fear little, bears compete for survival with the only other animals that can threaten their existence: Humans. Bear Attacks is a thorough and unflinching study of attacks made on humans.

This is the sometimes horrific, yet always instructive, story of Bear and Human, written by the leading scientific authority in the field. This book is for everyone who camps, hikes, or visits bear country - and for anyone who wants to learn more about these fearsome but always fascinating wild creatures.

This book is in invaluable resource for those venturing into bear country. Information presented here is important both for your safety and the wildlife you may encounter. You may end up drawing different conclusions on how to best protect yourself in the outdoors, as I have, but this will be a great resource to making informed decisions.

this book is incredibly informative. i didn’t love the narrator’s performance but it didn’t distract from the content at all. at points the book is dry and a bit boring (a whole chapter on bear scats) but tbh its all invaluable info if you plan on hiking, travelling and camping in bear country. the maulings were graphic, but so helpful to learn what works and doesn’t work when faced with an angry bear. i will definitely be listening again when i’m planning to hike at yellowstone. you can never be too prepared!

if u like bear maulings this is the book for you

Chapter 1 starts at chapter 4. Altogether there’re 6-7 chapters on bear attacks. The last handful of chapters are largely instructional. I still think the book is worth the credit especially for people who will be exposed to bears. Biggest takeaway-all bears are not alike; you don’t respond to them the same way; knowing the difference at the right moment could save your life.

Filled with good bear attack stories!

while I dont know who the author is I feel like the book is a pretentious bragging sermon. "i knew three people all who lost an eye if they would have followed 2 or three of ky rukes in this book they would still have both of their eyes." please lol. i turned it off and returned this book after that... dont waste your time or money

bragging nonsense

I found it to be a very interesting book. I now have a better understanding of both species of bear that we have in this country. However, I am sorry to say that I feel more afraid to go into the woods than before and I grew up in rural Pennsylvania! I hope though that the next person that reads this book gets a more positive feeling about bears and then would look for to a trip into the great outdoors.

All about bears!!
