Battlefield Earth is an enormous epic of adventure set in the year 3000, when the future survival of what's left of the human race is at stake. When Jonnie Goodboy Tyler decides to venture out of the small and dwindling community of humans barely surviving in their Rocky Mountain retreat, he has no thought of challenging the order that for a thousand years has held the earth prisoner to the oppressive alien race of the Psychlos.

The Psychlos and their vast intergalactic mining corporation have dominated and exploited all known galaxies for centuries, ruthlessly destroying races who dare to resist. How one man - with the aid of a few surviving Scotsmen—tackles the greatest malignant power in the universe makes for a sprawling adventure of thrilling heroics, full of dangerous underground work, interplanetary wars, intergalactic financial intrigue, monster races, and complex political manipulation spread across a vast canvas of epic scale.

Shocked!

I am avid audiobook listener and, without sounding like a cliche, this is by far the beat audiobook I've had the pleasure to listen to. I am used to one voice, two max and a few sound effects. But this book has more than 50 voice actors, countless sound effects and high quality music I wouldn't mind buying by itself!

And what to say about the story. There is 3D and even 4D cinema, but I think Hubbard achieved a whole new "D" with this book. The depth of each character and the different story lines running are simply unique.

It is more than 40 hours of entertainment right and pure science fiction that will keep you on the edge of your sit to the very end!

I highly recommend it!

Audio book Battlefield Earth is spectacular!

What made the experience of listening to Battlefield Earth the most enjoyable?

Using Kindle on my android phone I can listen or read or do both at the same time. When I'm in the car or train or running I can listen and get all the amazing sound effects. Otherwise I can read -- much faster than the narration but I do miss the sound effects. It's my choice which way to go. Lately I've just been listening because it's much more entertaining. It's not just someone reading the text of the book. There all all kinds of sound effects too.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Battlefield Earth?

I don't want to give too much away. There are many memorable moments. One is Jonny and the Psychlo drone. Lots of suspense.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No way! It has 47 hours of audio!

Any additional comments?

The Kindle audio version is the best of all worlds from a technical book aspect. You can listen as an audio book or just read the text. After experiencing the audio I don't think many people will opt for just reading. Of course, you can do both. Kindle audio follows the text word for word. It's amazing technology.

From a science fiction aspect, this book cannot be beat. Besides having a great story line (really bad villains and really good good guys) with the survival of humans on Earth at stake, the science in it is unassailable.

Note that the book is nothing like the movie which departed from the book in major ways and became a laughing stock because of unbelievable scenes. If the movie had stuck with the book's story line, it would have become a science fiction classic on the order of Star Wars. If you have seen the movie but not read the book, you have a treat in store for you with the audio book.

Movie of the Mind (Be prepared to be riveted)

This is a fantastic audiobook. Be prepared to have to force yourself to set this down from time to time. It won't be easy.

This is an epic audiobook. It's a story of epic proportions. But the audiobook is as well. This surpasses any other audiobook treatment ever done. I have listened to well over 200 audiobooks since becoming an audiobook listener. Either by downloading or by listening to CDs in the car when I travel.

From the narrators to the sound effects, to the pacing, It's a rollicking ride of action, suspense, and intrigue.

I recommend this audiobook to audiobook lovers, and to people who have never tried audiobooks.

I recommend it to the people who have read the book and loved it but never tried it on audiobook.

I recommend this audiobook to anyone who wants a good story they won't be able to put down and will change their view of audiobooks in general!

Amazing! Fast! Gripping!

This audiobook was amazing!

First off the story is captivating. The excitement and emotion of the story keeps your heart in it, while the action, characters and scene keep your minds eye fascinated.

Second, I have to recognize the voices! All the different voice actors with so many accents in the story really brought to life the global perspective of the story. Plus then the sound effects added so much to the otherworldly perspective!

All in all, the story, voices, sound effects and music, truly brought this book to life.

Fantastic audio of pulp fiction

The performance is easily one of the best audio books ever made. The actual book is sprawling, outdated but nonetheless fun pulp sci-fi
