About this listen

"I gulped down Ballistic in one long read, staying awake half the night, and now I want the next one!" (George R. R. Martin)

There is a personal price to pay for having aligned with the wrong side in a reckless war. For Aden Jansen it's the need to adopt a new identity while keeping his past hidden. Now he's integrated himself aboard the Zephyr, a merchant ship smuggling critical goods through dangerous space. But danger is imminent on planet Gretia, as well. Under occupation, torn between postwar reformers and loyalists, it's a polestar for civil unrest.

Meanwhile an occupation forces officer is pulled right back into the fray when the battle alarm is raised, an ambitious heiress is entangled in a subversive political conspiracy, and an Allied captain is about to meet the enemy head-on.

As Aden discovers, the insurgents on Gretia - and in space - are connected, organized, and ready to break into full-scale rebellion. History is threatening to repeat itself. It's time that Aden rediscovers who he is, whom he can trust, and what he must fight for now.

Well written good characterization, but uneventful

The headline kinda sums things up. Marko Kloos is a gifted writer and his characters are deep and interesting. However the story is... pretty empty. The first entry in this series was a good setup to the intrigue and mystery. The second entry should start to unravel the conspiracies. Only one major event happens and the major characters have little interaction with it. It doesn't really change their lives or outlook. The story also seems... short, even though it's 9+ hours long. Very little changes for the major characters from book 1.

I feel like this book is Palladium wars Book 1.5.

On the dull side, but still good

First as foremost, I'm not a big fan of narrator switches in the middle of a series. This narrator is at least as good as Luke Daniels, albeit with his own unique set of well developed professional characteristics.

As for the story... It feels like the author is deliberately stretching the story to ensure the highest payday he can achieve, sacrificing both quality and readers' overall experience in the process. In this book, he added to the intrigue, but very little in terms of anything else.

great story great job by Angelo

Great story i was expecting to drop the story after Luke Daniel's was unable to continue the series. Angelo Di Loreto was able to fill in and make it his own. Can't wait enough for book 3

Good second book..

I guess I'll finish the third book in this series. They are all cliffhangers but since they are all published it's not so bad. Plus, they are al free read and free listen, so that's good.

The story itself is pretty good but I'm still waiting for one of the MC's to die. I'm hoping this is the last book because I'm done after this one.

In this one the crew of Zephyr are in serious trouble and must figure out what to do. They took a nuclear warhead from the bad guys and now the bad guys want the Zephyr or they will all be killed if they don't turn it over. And that's where it was left.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 21 times.

As for the narration: I didn't know that Luke Daniels was only going to read the first book then it change narrators to Angelo Di Loreto, who did a great job. And the last book will be narrated by Korey Jackson. So, three books and three narrators.

narrator isn't as bad as people say

while I would have loved to have the same narrator from the first book for all three books, this guys only problem is you need to turn him all the way up to hear him. Good story but still feels more like a to be continued then a single story in itself out of a series. Going to check the narrator for the next one and see if I have to get a written book instead because I have to finish this story. It definetly grabs you.

Narrator change was a bad idea...Good book though!

This series has gotten off to a bit of a rough start. Book one was more like half a book, still good but in need of a developmental editor.

Book two was really good but Luke Daniels was MIA. Yikes. New narrator was essentially a dark tone. Also, I didn't like the fact when the Rhodian Captain was questioning Aden, Kloos was jumping between Aden and the Captain and it was a bit confusing. Being omnipotent didn't help.

This is the first book where rookie writing mistakes permeate throughout and it was a downer. Still, I enjoyed the story.

Changing narrators killed it for me.

Keep the same narrator. Changing them is clownshoes. Had I paid attention, I wouldn't have even signed on for book two.
