    Hi!

In our last lesson, we talked about adding artwork

    to your channel.

Today, we’ll take a look at a few ways you can

quickly research keywords that will help you maximize

    visibility and grow an audience.

To start, you’ll want to always add long-tail keywords

to your descriptions. Keywords are the words and phrases

people use when they’re searching for something on the

    internet.

For example, if you’re looking for a how-to video on

creating a YouTube channel, you’d be using keywords like

“make a YouTube channel,” “create a YouTube channel,”

or “how to make a YouTube channel.”

You want to be creating content, titles, descriptions,

and metadata that contains the right keywords. These are

the ones most likely to convert a visitor into a subscriber

because the keywords you rank for match up with the content

    you are offering.

Put yourself into the viewer’s head and think about how

they would search for your content.

The YouTube search bar is a valuable tool here because it

auto-predicts what you might be trying to ask based on what

    is popular at that moment.

Try typing a few words into the search bar and see what it

    comes up with.

For example, when I typed “how to create” into the YouTube

search bar, the very first choice that came up in search was

“how to create a YouTube channel.”

The trick is to figure out what your viewers are looking for,

then find out which keywords match their search.

A fun “game” to play with keyword research is the YouTube

    Search Bar Alphabet Game.

Once you’ve picked a likely keyword phrase, type that into

the search bar and add the letter a (after a space), then see

    what comes up as possibilities.

Take note of what people are actually searching for, then

erase the “a” and type in a “b.”

Go through the entire alphabet if you have time, learning

what specific keyword phrases people are using to search

    for videos.

You’ll also want to jump on trending keywords. There are

thousands of other video creators just like you who are

    looking for keywords to use.

The key is to figure out what’s trending and find a way to

work those trending keywords into your videos.

No, we don’t mean just typing them in and pretending your

video is about that topic! Never fall victim to using ClickBait,

it'll only hurt your overall growth.

Aim for a specific segment of your audience at a time with

highly-targeted, relevant keyword phrases placed carefully

    throughout your video content.

Remember that you’re not trying to snag every YouTube viewer

out there. You’re looking to connect to your target audience.

What you’re looking for are keywords of opportunity: words or

phrases with the most search volume possible (versus keywords

with as little video competition as possible).

You want to “front-load” your video titles with keywords, include

those keywords in the first two lines of your video description,

and drop them into your video tags and playlist as well.

Show YouTube exactly what your content is about – and stick to

it over a series of videos.

That's it for now! Keep an eye out for additional tips and

    strategies in the coming weeks.

    To your success!
