About this listen

Nine months ago Sara Adams awoke with no memory. The man holding her hand told her she's a member of The Light, a tight-knit religious group led by the terrifying and charismatic Father Gabriel. As a woman in the community of The Light, her duty is to be unquestionably obedient and to submit to the will of her husband.

But as Sara's memory starts to return and she remembers her past, she sees that everything she's been told is a lie. The Light is an insidious and dangerous organization, and its corrupting influence reaches well beyond the confines of the remote campus where Sara is being held.

With everything at stake, Sara struggles to sort out her true memories from her indoctrination. The desire to escape consumes her, but who can she trust? And which other followers of The Light were forced into this life, brainwashed to believe they belonged? The more she remembers, the more it becomes clear that Jacob, the man who calls himself her husband, is keeping shattering secrets of his own.

But Sara cannot flee alone, leaving innocents behind. She must fight to extinguish The Light.

Fantastic second book

Loved the book! Couldn't stop until the end with all of the twists and turns but all believable. Terrifying in a way but very entertaining and easy listen

If you dislike dark novels look elsewhere!

What a great story! This novel is the sequel to Into the Light which MUST be listened to first; think of them as one long novel. Away From the Dark is profane, sexually explicit, very dark, and WONDERFUL. It reminds me a lot of JA Redmerski's In The Company of Killers series. Narration with 3 narrators is superb. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Wish there was a 3rd book after the Epilogue

Loved this series and was very impressed with Romig's ability to capture the audience. When I first started listening I was skeptical because the character building was lengthy and the religious aspect was slightly boring but once the first book picked up speed I listened to the second book in 2 days. Definitely twists and turns I was (and wasn't) expecting which is always nice.

Couldn't Put Down

This second book in the series is one that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't stop listening. It is a bit scary. I had to keep in mind that it would turn out HEA. However, it was difficult through most of the book to pick which person Sarah/Stella would end up with. Who would win out in her internal battle between Sarah and Stella, Dillon and Jacob. The narrators did a great job of bringing the characters to life. Almost ended thinking there would be another book. Maybe!!!

I loved it!

Any additional comments?

The second book in this series was just as nail biting, anxiety inducing, and page turning or in my case keep listening, as the first.  In other words absolutely brilliant and thrilling.

Away from the Dark, we see Sara struggle with the woman she has been trained to be vs. the woman she was.  It was terrifying to even think that a person could be so deeply brainwashed that their core personality changes.   All the Sara went through give me chills and I honestly think her experience would be my worst nightmare.
Jacob really surprised me with his true depth of character, his devotion to Sara, and ultimately what his true endgame in The Light was.  It brought so much more depth to his character and made me rethink everything he did in the first book.

This is a series that I LOVED and I have already recommended to several people.  It does end with a hook for another book and I am hoping Romig gets the green light.  I would love to delve back into the insidious world of The Light.

Great book

This is the 2nd book in the series. These are not stand alone books but it doesn't matter because the series is so good you want to read both! I like that they have multiple readers because there are many characters but not so many you can't keep up with the main ones. My only 2 complaints are like the first book INTO THE LIGHT, it drags in some areas and could be 2-3hrs shorter. Also if theres a 3rd book, please cut out all the sucking of the lower lip with the teeth, it was distracting!! We get it she gets anxious and does that but it made me do it every time she did and I started freaking out thinking the book was conditioning me!!! Overall the storyline comes together nicely and the ending of both books has plot twist that truly surprised me.
Well worth the credit for both books.
