About this listen
Magic isn't lost....
A cataclysm has ruined much of the realm of Valana. Only a few fortified cities high in the mountains have survived. The lands below lay covered by a permanent barrier of mist and only huge, monstrous beasts ever rise up above the cloud bank.
In Avondale, the Earl's son harbors a secret. Magic is blamed for the cataclysm and outlawed in the high mountain cities, but Tiberius longs to become a wizard. When he finally begins to practice magic, he knows his time in the wondrous city of Avondale is short, but where can he go? What lies beneath the mists that surround his mountaintop home? And if he ventures out of the city, how will he survive in a land that no one has ever returned from?

Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

story was pretty good
but.... the narration was completely abhorrent! I'm digusted at how bad this story was narrated. grovelly and single toned, the narrator dropped between imperceptible whispers and ear splitting shouts! don't get the audiobook; if you want to read this, then get a copy to read yourself.

Great book! Not such a great narrator...
The book is a well written and makes for a fun listen, but the narrator is an older man that stutters and stammers. The subject matter and the narration don't really match very well because it's all younger characters and action oriented but the narrator portrays the book like a feeble old confused man is telling a story to his grandkids.

Narrator is TERRIBLE!!
The story is honestly one of the best fantasy stories I've ever read. However the narrator that they went with is just terrible. Please do not buy this audiobook book because you will hate it off the narration alone
