About this listen
A heartwarming and deliciously funny story about the world’s worst-behaved dog and how he trained his human how to love herself again.
Through the haze of vodka and self-loathing, Hazel Roundtree saw the poor creature lying in a ditch. One brown eye. One blue. Covered in mud and crying from pain, the puppy was desperately trying to free itself from a hopeless situation. She almost kept walking by. She had her own problems, and besides...no one had ever stopped to help her.
Who we’re ultimately meant to be is a journey without end, but there’s always a defined start....
Hazel had no idea the dog would be her beginning, her second chance, the miracle she never saw coming. She named him Atticus. He grew up to be a very bad - and completely awesome - dog. He took Hazel on a life-changing journey filled with mischievous adventure and painful heartbreak. In the end, Hazel grew up to be completely awesome, too.

Story
A decade ago Special Forces warrior Jason Morgan parachuted into the Central American jungle on an anti-narcotics raid. He'd served with the famous Night Stalkers on countless such missions. This one turned out very different. Months later he regained consciousness in a US military hospital, with no memory of how he'd gotten there. The first words he heard were from his surgeon, telling him he would never walk again. The determined soldier responded, "Sir, yes, I will."

Fabulous story about a goofy, sensitive dog who changes everyone’s lives. Many chapters are from the dog’s point of view. Those were my favorite.

Fantastic
WOW did I ever love this book! I'd love to give it more than 5 stars. The parts written and narrated from the point of view of Atticus were definitely my favorite parts. This is an amazing story of a woman's journey from a pretty bad place in her life to a very fulfilling life and her own HEA. Everything starts to turn around after she stumbles upon a little bundle of fur that would ultimately change her life. The story is packed with emotion. I laughed (a lot!), I cried (dang it Ms. Bennett), I cheered. Every character in this story is special but Atticus definitely stole the show. The narration is excellent and fitting of the characters.
This one needs to be on everyone's must buy list. I highly recommend it.

I loved this book.
I really enjoyed this book. I laughed, cried, and smiled this week while listening to the audio. The narration was perfect and Ms. Turpin nailed it- all the characters, genders, races, even Atticus- which is not an easy feat considering it’s one person bringing everyone to life off the pages.
Thank you Sawyer Bennett for this book and story.

Loved this Incredible Journey!
Atticus is more than a story of a woman and her dog. It is a brilliant story about how two beings find each other when they need them most. It is about their incredible journey from being lost and cast aside, to self discovery, resilience, and unconditional love. The moment Hazel found Atticus, and reluctantly saved him, their journey began to save each other. I was totally captivated by Atticus, and how this mischievous yet adorable pup could affect the lives of so many, especially Hazel. This unique and heartwarming story will have you in tears, both of sorrow and joy!
Narrator Bahni Turpin, was amazing at bringing this beautiful story to life. Her voices were expressive and distinct and I especially loved her interpretation of Atticus.

Bow wow wowza heartwarming story
Loved Atticus, now every time I see my friends dogs I picture them talking to me or about me. Just in Bahni ‘s voice❣️
This was a great story about a girl and her dog, they both shared their love for each other. All the characters were amazingly done by Bahni, and Sawyer Bennett gave us a true,y heart warming story of friendship, perseverance and love.
Otis turned into a grandfatherly friend who I would have loved to mentor me growing up.
I’m writing this review a bit after listening, don’t know what happened to my review that I thought got posted but I need y’all to know that this is a great story to spend your time on,especially if you like dogs and can picture them thinking of you and what you are doing.

Great Story!
This author is one of my favorites, but I was a little worried because I knew this story was going to be different than any of her other stories. I am so glad I took a chance! This story was unique and well rounded. I especially liked listening to Atticus' POV, and I loved how one small puppy was able to change the course of Hazel's life in so many ways!

A wonderful, heartfelt story
Oh my word. Not quite sure where to start. What a story! So many feels. Having read and loved the book, I was so looking forward to listening to the audio. Bahni Turpin is a new narrator to me, and I’ve got to say she nailed all the voices perfectly, even that of Atticus. I can’t imagine I t’s easy trying to portray a dog. A story of self discovery. A story with so many emotions. I swear I don’t think I’ve laughed out loud so much whilst listening to a book. Atticus was so so funny. There were some extremely emotional scenes and I did spend the last 10% of the audio in tears, yes, even though I knew what to expect, I was still a blubbering mess. What a wonderful heartfelt story, the narration complimented the book so well. Most definitely one of my favourite audios of 2018, I definitely got all the feels.

Beautiful story with wonderful narration
I have been trying to write this review for several days now, and I just can’t seem to find the right words to describe this incredible story of Hazel's journey to discover herself, in the most unexpected way. When she rescues a puppy to be named Atticus, the journey gets even more epic.
I knew this book was going to be different from what the author typically writes, but this did not disappoint. There is so much
packed into this book. When you read this you will be struggling right along with Hazel, cheering her on, crying with her and falling in love with Atticus and then add in the surprises to the unpredictable plot and you will not be able to get the story out of your head. Things I expected to happen didn’t and those that did were unexpected making it a book I just didn't want to end. The narrator did a wonderful job as well. I loved how the author had many chapters told from Atticus’s point of view. The narration of Atticus, from puppyhood to adulthood, changed as he grew and that was awesome. It just added to this beautifully written story. I am looking forward to reading more from this author and I do hope that several of the supporting characters get their own book as they have their own stories to be told.
