Publisher's summary

September 1858: An Antarctic whaler stumbles across an aged wreck, her frozen crew guarding a priceless treasure.

March 2001: A team of anthropologists is buried under a mountain by a deliberate explosion.

April 2001: A ship that should have died 56 years ago reappears, and almost sinks a National Underwater and Marine Agency ship.

Dirk Pitt knows that somehow these events are connected. His investigations lead to an ancient mystery with devastating modern consequences, and a diabolical enemy unlike any he has ever known. Now, he is racing to save not only his life, but the world. The trap is set. The clock is ticking. And only one man stands between the earth and Armageddon.

As always, a fun page turner.

I can't recall when i first read this book, about twenty years ago. A bit amazed by how my much I remembered. But I enjoyed it just as much. Clive Chssler has found the right format for a fun exciting read. You are never disappointed by his story or characters.

Why would you abridge this down to 5 hours

My only issue is that your only option is the abridged version of the book it’s makes for a very incomplete and dissatisfying narrative cusslers books center around huge happenings and cutting out all the little details takes all logic out of the story the protagonist kinda just happens to be in the right place at the right time will all the right info to take down the bag but but we the listener don’t know why

Voice used for Al Gordino :(

I liked the story although it was shorter than a lot of the other books. I did not like the narration voice used for Al Gordino’s (sp?) voice at all.

Wow, just fantastic. Really makes you want to read all of the series.

Just when you think it can't get any better, another sentence grips you into a new adventure.
