About this listen

When Joe Ledger and Echo Team rescue a group of American college kids held hostage in Iran, the Iranian government then asks them to help find six nuclear bombs planted in the Mideast oil fields. These stolen WMDs will lead Joe and Echo Team into hidden vaults of forbidden knowledge, mass-murder, betrayal, and a brotherhood of genetically-engineered killers with a thirst for blood.

Accompanied by the beautiful assassin called Violin, Joe follows a series of clues to find the Book of Shadows, which contains a horrifying truth that threatens to shatter his entire worldview. They say the truth will set you free… Not this time. The secrets of the Assassin’s Code will set the world ablaze.

But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. Would you listen to Assassin's Code again? Why?

I would listen to this again for the same reason I watch Chuck Norris movies--it's just great action.

Would you recommend Assassin's Code to your friends? Why or why not?

I definitely recommend this for those friends who enjoy a little horror and sci-fi mixed in with their action.

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love Porter's narration; it's fluent, lively, and the subtle vocal differences he employs when reading the dialogue of different characters is flawlessly maintained throughout the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

While the novel lacks depth and gravitas, I find the protagonist oddly compelling.

Any additional comments?

While I'm sure there are women out there who enjoyed this, it's testosterone-packed action designed to satisfy those of us who grew up watching GI Joe after school, who watched and re-watched every Chuck Norris film, and who like to turn our brains off with a good action flick.

What did you like best about this story?

A great and funny story. This is probably the only book that have made me laugh out loud! This story have many great elements and is worth a listen. I have not read the first 3 books, but it is not needed. There are only a few references to the other books. Looking forward to reading the other three.

What did you love best about Assassin's Code?

The last sentence

What was one of the most memorable moments of Assassin's Code?

Truly, with the Ledger books I don't have these ... I love the books in their entirety .... I USUALLY can't say I like one "part" over another.

Which scene was your favorite?

Same here.....these books are gruesome (in the manner of a much more talented Jack Bauer - TV can only do so much). But I actually really like Joe's detailed descriptions of the fight scenes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The last sentence made me smile. Big.

Any additional comments?

I've only got two more Joe Ledger books to read .... I'm SO sad. I've read the reviews on Deep Pine and I just don't know. Maybe I'll try Rot & Ruin next. I've So loved Joe and Ray Porter - this man is second only to Scott Brick. I LOVE HIM.

Okay, so I'm a HUGE Joe Ledger fan ....

Over all, it was pretty good! Definitely not next to patient zero, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!
P.S. The last two words sent chills up my spine!

A worthy addition to the Joe Ledger Series

This has been one of my go-to stories when I can't find anything else I want to listen to. I love this series.

Excellent. I can't get enough.

Ray Porter is one of the BEST narrators I have ever had the pleasure of listening too. That being said, this one didn't hold my attention as well as the others. Rudy's "Dios Mio"s were getting kinda tiring. And also Vox is becoming a pain in the butt and annoying. I too can skip the sermons that Ray likes to throw out there from time to time. But still it was a WONDERFUL listen. Ray Porter is THAT good.

Not the best
