About this listen

A jokester crashes the System, angers the gods, and becomes more powerful with every climactic battle.

Jay Luckrun has many interests: street dancing, anime, action movies, comedy, and dashing across rooftops to the point where his bullies nicknamed him Rooftop Weirdo. After struggling to confront his untouchable high school crush at her seventeenth birthday party, Jay adds another interest to his list—Dungeon Crawling in the face of the apocalypse.

Jay meets a divine creature who chooses him to become a Champion. Someone with a leveling System, stats, skills, access to other dimensions containing dungeons filled with supernatural loot, and magical powers that’ll alter reality as they know it.

Becoming a Champion comes with some issues. Global assassins want Jay and other Champions dead. Monsters are hungering to break out of their dungeons and raze Jay’s world. And Jay’s just one young guy trying to have fun with a Class that gets weirder as he evolves and masters his new gravity powers.

interesting but plays pretty basic

the start was good the Mc takes a L at the start makes a play off brains instead of bronze kinda works then it introduces mcs dream girl a walking godlyling red flag then gets super basic he's just strong enough to do everything (even tho he had lost every human fight hard) bro just says ya I'm weird constantly even tho he's basic except does parkour without ever being weird in the way he implied gets annoying tho it does still have touches of personality it really falls flat to me will not be continuing

the main is a simp

nobody likes a simp. the personalities of the characters are trying to seem unique and interesting, but there 2 dimensional as hell. I could barely make it halfway through this story and had to quit, and I listen to a new fantasy book almost daily. If you like a new take on generic then get this book otherwise try hellgate.

DEAR....SWEET.....GOD!!

Listen and listen closely for I can't explain this any better. It's basically He Who Fights With Monsters, but with teens and super otakus. This book is glorious and I'm basically mad I listened to it, because now starts the waiting and praying for a quicker release to the sequel.

story for for teens and maybe some YA

Could not continue listening to this “comedy”. Not something I enjoy. A note somewhere in description mentioning it’s for teens would be helpful.
Female voices sometimes hard to distinguish.

Could not finish.

Had to drop after trying hard to like the MC. And all the other side characters have no depth on character building. Felt too bland.

Really good!

Entertaining story but i do have to say that the characters steal the show, especially the MCs mom she is awesome! The only major con i can think of is how long the dungeon took to complete it dragged way too long. but i will definitely be getting the next one

I really enjoyed this book. Jay is a great character. I'm excited for book two and looking forward two learning more about the system overlords.

Not worth a credit.

the narrator is hard to hear and the reasoning provided makes no sense. The overall story is simplistic and while not terrible it's full of holes and the pacing is bad. the characters are shallow and often feel like we are watching villains is the making. the mc doesn't act like a 17 year old kid nor does anything in character or set up make the story engaging. the worst part is it actually gets to the point that it's boring enough that I stopped listening several times.

One book down, still fence sitting.

Teenage Angst, Drama, Melodrama, Goofiness, and more. Iv listened to this book (and the second one) and I am STILL not sure if I like it or not.

Like many a person im kinda tired of the same troupes over and over and read/listen/watch Media and hope for twists and turns to spice things up from the same old tried and true formulas. This book kinda gives you that. In most LitRPG and stories with a System, the System is omnipotent. In some it has sentience. In some it is good or bad, more often than not it just IS with no good to bad in its endeavors. This novel does the System system a bit differently than most if not all that I've experienced and I am not sure I actually like how its done or not, which is the hinge of me liking this series or not.

The main character is easy enough to like or be annoyed by. Hes one of those like em or not types, maybe not love/hate tier though. The cast of supporting characters has a wide range of personality types and characters you can be like "I wanna know more about him/her." Heck the overall story makes you want to know more about how the system in itself works and would be a good page turner just for "How does this work and why that way?".

In a typical System novel things are FACT. The system gives you numbers, data points and other things and that is just how it is. This novel twists it and turns it. The summaries themselves tell you the cast like to kick the system around and make it bend to their wills. It does not tell you how until you get into the book though. Slowly the MC and some supporting characters learn how to work the system to their advantage. Bending rules, breaking rules, turning left to right and up to backwards they figure out how to make things go in a way they desire. Though plenty of botches happen too.

If you are looking for something different than normal, a bit out there in its reasoning, give this novel a try. Again, while I am not sure if I want to listen to the third and beyond as of now, I did enjoy the first two books. I am just not sure if I will like the way it changes the System style for its own compared to others. Which is why the story is a 3/5 for me currently.
