About this listen

Learn about the history and geography of Antarctica with iMindsJNR audio learning series for younger minds.

Antarctica is the fifth biggest continent on Earth. It is also the coldest. The sun shines for only half of the year and stays under the horizon for the other half. Early explorers of Antarctica described it as a mysterious, lonely place. But they also described it as a desert. And a desert it is! For it receives only 50 millimeters of rain and snow per year. That is less precipitation than the Sahara Desert! So, believe it or not, Antarctica is also the driest continent on Earth.

Perfect to listen to while commuting, exercising, shopping or cleaning the house.. iMinds brings knowledge to your MP3 with 8 minute information segments to whet your mental appetite and broaden your mind.

Well-summarized and well-performed!

I only wish this were longer. I like the soft music in the background - very effective. A nice summary for children and adults alike!

Quite Interesting

It's been years ago that I read about Antarctica in my school books. This is better than what I read in my text books though short. Hope we humans can work towards preserving the climate and hope we can preserve the beautiful Antarctica.

So far my experience with the “iminds” science genre have been fulfilling.. this short listen does not fall short of that..
Great narration and pace along with some interesting facts makes for a satisfying quick listen.

Short Summary of An Amazing Topic

In a little over 5 minutes, this podcast exposes and summarizes a fascinating range of information, like insect mites and ticks that survived by adapting to freeze in the ice, that the ‘continent’ is really a chain of volcanic islands linked by massive ice sheets 6500 feet thick. Well worth the listen.
