When a young wizard awakes on the shores of an unknown land, the only thing he knows for sure is that his name is Darcus, and he has an enchanted sword strapped across his back.
Instantly, Darcus is lured deeper into these war-ravaged lands and is captured by a slaver. Not trained in the powers of the realm or the powers of the void, Darcus is cast into a world ruled by an evil Shaläri wizard king and prince who seek to rule over all men, elves, dwarves, giants, centaurs, and the Mërka Uran. Darcus must learn how to master his powers and protect his enchanted sword that has been sought after for over 1,000 years while uncovering who is friend or foe. His journey will not be easy, for there are those who wish to stop him, control him, or manipulate him for selfish gains.
Danger lurks around every corner, and to make matters worse, powerful forces that have been dormant for millennia have awoken. The original prime wizards that once ruled and shaped the lands might not be locked within the void as originally thought.
Will Darcus play a role in stopping the evil that consumes these lands, or will he fall victim and fade into the darkness as so many others have? Listen to find out.

1. MAIN CHARACTER: Darcus has no memories of his past and his confusion/lack of knowledge causes him to go with the flow and be sort of passive until book 2.
2. FLOW: Lots of action, fighting, and suspense.
3. MAGIC: There are powers that follow a logic that make sense (Powers of the Realm and Powers of the Void)
4. PEOPLE: There is a hierarchy of classes/powers (Prime Wizards are at the top. Shalari wizards under that, elves, centaurs, Merka Uran (tribal people), dwarves, humans, and then barbarians at the bottom. The MC appears to be somewhere between Prime and Shalari or something new but I'm not sure yet)
5. ROMANCE: There is romance but its kind of confusing in book one. I like where the romance has turned in book 2, although it could go multiple ways. Romance isn't the point of this book obviously but there is romance in the works that I am now enjoying in book 2.
6. TRILOGY: Book three is still in production and won't be available until the end of this year 2022 (or so the authors webpage says)
7. NARRATION: Narrator did a great job
Great book, currently reading book 2

I'm not going to spoil anything but if you like a solidly written fantasy novel with adventure, action, some romance, new races, new powers, and a main character who starts off completely lost but grows into someone exciting, powerful, and not arrogant then this book is for you.
Book 1 was a good read but book 2 is awesome! I absolutely loved it.
Action thriller adventure with some spice!

The action scenes are really well done ...although, I admit I'm biased because "bullet time" or "high perception" is one of my favorite powers/abilities in general. Combine that with proper swordsmanship n u can get some really cool results.
I also really enjoyed the character development, the interplay between different races adds depth n actually serves a purpose and the obstacle presented by the MC's amnesia is believable, even the power struggle between the Dark Prince n the Dark King is cool. So far this is Goldilocks ...nothing too over the top, nothing too cheesy ...just solid story telling.
The origin/history of world with the prime wizards n the magic of the void vs the magic of the world is intriguing ...full marks for creativity.
I can't say I've read anything from Charles E. Tyler III the before, but I have to give him some credit here cuz IMO he knocked this one out of the park. I will def be keeping an eye out for his future work, he's got talent for sure.
Anyways, I highly recommend checking this book out n I can't wait for the next release
Not gonna lie, this was impressive

I did read another review that said this is a children's book but I strongly disagree. Yeah, there is no cursing or actual sex scenes with intercourse but there are some very steemy scenes that cut short before the intercourse which I can appreciate. Also, the fight scenes are really graphic and make you feel like you are there.
Overall, I'm very impressed and can't wait to start listening to the next book.
This book has it ALL!!!!!!

1. Main character gets screwed by "friends" constantly, and never does anything about it. Beta male for sure.
2. Main character's best friend is a open racist towards another "friend", and didn't change at all during the story.
3. Main character is basicly raped by another "friend" (also racist), and he keeps her around. I wonder how this would work if the main character was a woman.
4. Main character has god-like abilities that have a mind of themselves. They always save him and his "friends". It is too random and never explained.
5. Main character gets a suit that heals wounds, but does not use it to heal his dying friend that spent most of the book semi-dead.
There's probably more I could list, but this should be enough to scare most away. I have never been this annoyed by a book before. I hate all the "good" guys, and the "evil" guys are more of a comic interlude.
Narrator did ok.
Stupid and disappointing.
