About this listen

Sent away because she let someone die, her burgeoning powers leave her with more questions than answers. Now her only chance for redemption comes at a price; one she may not survive.

As a trauma nurse in a New York City hospital, Ella St. John had no idea that refusing to help a known killer would have such dire consequences. Being sent to the middle of nowhere is bad enough, but when she crosses paths with a handsome stranger, everything changes. She can't deny the attraction blossoming between them, but that is nothing compared to the trouble he brings to her door. Helping him could be the biggest mistake of her life...if she manages to live long enough to regret it.

From the author of the Shelby Nichols Adventures, comes a new series that will plunge a woman with growing powers into the dark world of mystery, murder, and death.

Perfect for fans of John Irving, Amy Harmon, Sarah Penner, Glendy Vanderah, V.E. Schwab, and Amanda Lee.

A Great Beginning

I admit I was a little hesitant to read this because I adore the Shelby Nichols series. But, I knew Colleen wouldn't let us down, and she didn't!! I really grew to love Ella and Creed. It was exciting to go through their adventures. Great book to start the series and I'm looking forward to more. Stevie Incremona did a wonderful job narrating as well! Thank you for another fantastic book!!!❤❤❤

Intriguing new series

I loved this first book in this new series. I remembered Gabriela from the Shelby Nichols series and was hoping for more with this character. Not disappointed. Ella is a nurse that truly has "healing hands." After an issue with a patient in New York, Ella is sent on a "new assignment" to a different location, take a break, assess her life. When she runs into Aidan Creed, literally, Ella is compelled to help him. As the story goes along, Ella wonders if getting mixed up with Creed was a good idea. They have some near misses with Creed's past. Good crossover with Shelby and Ramos from The Shelby Nichols books. How Ella grew up and why she seems to have this gift are questions we and Ella want to find out. Great start to an interesting and different new series. I received a free copy and voluntarily provided this review.

Could be a good series

The thing with this series is that is seems to be mirroring Shelby too much. It needs to stand on it's own and has the potential to do that. It has a great premise. Ella and Creed are great together and even though I am not religious I don't mind that aspect at all.

I loved this book! The story is fantastic- Colleen never disappoints! It’s different from Shelby but just as thrilling. Narrator did a great job.

Great entry to a new series 5/5

Sand and Shadows first book has me hooked. The storyline and characters are alluring---pulling me into this new series. I will not spoil this book for you---But I will say you will enjoy the every second of this Audible.

I have enjoyed the "Shelby Nichols Adventures". I saw the NEW book I just bought it without question, and so pleased that I did. To make it all better Wendy Tremont King was narrating.

Exciting new series!

Angel Falls, the the debut book in the new Sand and Shadows series by Colleen Helme is as fabulous as any book in her Shelby Nichols series. Ella has the gift of healing hands and she uses it in her role as a trauma nurse in New York...until she is asked to heal a murderous criminal. Ella lets him die, and is punished by the 'powers that be' --- reassigned to the backwoods medical clinic. Her path intersects with a tall, dangerous, biker on a dark and rainy night and the adventure begins. Suspenseful drama, fast pace, high stakes poker, and paranormal vibes elevate this book to must read status. I also enjoyed the cameo appearances of Shelby, Uncle Joey, and Ramos. A wonderful start to a new series and I can hardly wait for the next installment!
The Audible version of this book is excellent with Stevi Incremona a great narrator.

The narrator made the book great

I found the story good but was really impressed by the narrator! (Stevi Incremona) Her voice made this book. She has a smooth sound with a beautiful tone and just drew me into the story. I think I would actually chose a book based on her performing it.
