Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Secrets Revealed!
Susan K. Marlow has done it again! Here's another adventure in the Andi Carter books and I have to admit, it's almost my favorite book in the series. Things are a little mysterious around the ranch. Chad's acting suspicious. Mother abandoned her apple sauce making. Andi's trying to figure out what's going on when Melinda comes into the kitchen carrying a little girl. She even begs Andi to clean up and put on a dress to meet someone named Katherine. To Andi's complete surprise - she finds out Katherine is her older sister. A sister she knew nothing about!
Andi doesn't feel too excited when she learns her family has kept this secret from her. And she's not thrilled to find out she's aunt to her sister's three children. When a stranger needs help, Andi reaches out to help him without thinking about it first. All too soon she finds out there are secrets that need to be told right away!
This is a fun book to read but it also weaves in valuable lessons everyone can take to heart. As read by Annette Romano the book has an extra depth of suspense. Lovely job.

A Joy to Read; A Joy to Hear
Here I was thinking I liked the as-is version of Mrs. Marlow's third book in the Circle C Adventures series. But no, it gets better! With Annette Romano as narrator, this book comes to life! You can literally 'see' Andi. You can leap on in and join her for her newest adventure: learning to cope with a sister she's never known she'd had. I've read this book before (many times, I might add), but still I get hooked on this audio book! Ms. Romano catches you with her strong, clear voice. So join me; download now and hit the 'play' button. After that, it's a whirlwind of adventure!

Love the character transformations
It was fun to listen to. Well narrated. But author, Susan Marlow, did a great job showing how the characters were transformed. It was hard to hit the "pause " button and wait until I had another opportunity to listen. Interesting story and masterfully written.

Another original adventure
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this next adventure in young Andi's life. From book to book we see her growing up, and in Family Secret we see her face one of her hardest challenges yet: another older sister no one told her about. I feel like long-lost relative stories can so easily be cliche, but Susan K. Marlow keeps this story fresh and realistic: Andi battles the full spectrum of emotions as she tries to grasp and respond to this revelation; the reasons for the older sister's disappearance years ago and the family's secrecy since are very understandable; and the repercussions of this sister's re-appearance affect every character -- and every event -- in the story.
As usual, I was hooked into this story from the very beginning. I was impressed even more by Annette Roman's narrations, since this book features an even more diverse cast including young children and a friendly (or not so friendly?) man with a great country drawl. Listeners of all ages will be captivated by yet another perfect blend of storytelling and narrating.
