About this listen

He only looked away for a second.

Still haunted by the disappearance of his little sister, Amy, over 20 years ago, Joseph Bridgeman’s life has fallen apart. When a friend talks him into seeing hypnotherapist Alexia Finch to help with his insomnia, Joseph accidentally discovers he can time travel. His first trip only takes him back a few minutes, but his new-found ability gives him something he hasn’t felt for the longest time: hope.

Joseph sets out to travel back to the night Amy went missing and save her. But after several failed attempts, he discovers the farther back he travels, the less time he gets to stay there. And the clock is ticking.

With the help of Alexia, Joseph embarks on a desperate race against the past to save his sister. Can he master his new skill and solve the mystery of Amy’s disappearance before it’s too late?

Previously released as The Unexpected Gift of Joseph Bridgeman, this updated version includes extra chapters, new plotlines, and even deeper character development. It makes way for an expanded vision of the Joseph Bridgeman Series, with the first four books released in 2021 and 2022.

Excellent Story

Kept me guessing the whole way through. Too bad no one in Hollywood can read. Would make a great movie.

Some interesting twists and turns

Really enjoyed this and the idea of going back for one specific reason. My only wish is that a few more of the questions were answered at the end that any time-traveling aficionado would want answers too. Hoping book 2 has some of that covered.

So much better than the first time

Being a fan of time travel stories, I found "And She Vanished" as part of my regular searching for in Audible for novels of this type. As I read the description, the plot seemed familiar and I remembered having read a similar book 5 years ago. I remembered " The Unexpected Gift of Joseph Bridgeman being mildly interesting, but otherwise not very memorable.
I decided to take a chance of this new version, and I was very happily surprised.
This story was so much better than the original. It was almost as if the original novel was a first draft, and the author has spent the past 5 years improving the storyline, the dialogue, adding depth and humanity to the characters, and finding the perfect narrator for this new, significantly improved version.
Having read the original, I had a basic understanding of the plot, but the new revision still made it a great read.
Admittedly, the concept of going back in time to correct past mistakes in your life is fantasy. Nick Jones does a great job in making it, and the hero's struggle with how to use his gift and the consequences it brings is very believable.
While Ken Grimwood's Replay still is at the top of my list of time travel novels, I give Kudos to Jones for reworking the story.
If you like time travel stories, you won't be disappointed.

So worth the credit.

I have almost 400 audio books and it’s been about 50 books since I had one I couldn’t stop listening to, this one broke the drought. If you can let go and just enjoy the ridiculousness of any time travel ideas and let your imagination run with a story, you should enjoy this one.

I hear Tom Hanks!

The accent choices are weird for the main character and his family, generally American with some variations in the second book, especially. Nevertheless, I am thoroughly enjoying the reader, suspending disbelief all around for whatever reason he's doing those accents. But once I realized his main character sounds a lot like Tom Hanks, that has stuck in my mind, haha! I am loving this story and the second book, too. Poignancy and humor, mystery and wonder, and so many voices done well (again, not focusing on accents, but hearing him use different tones for men that sound authentic in their own right.) I hope you'll give this a chance.

Are you British?

I enjoyed this story and the narrator was actually really good- except he was obviously American and the character was British! It was annoying to hear a yank saying things that were obviously British …. I found it distracting :/ otherwise the story was great and I enjoyed it.

A real pleasure

This novel is an absolute delight. I so enjoyed the romp in time travel. Excellent characterization. Excellent story. The narrator, Ray Porter, was superb. I will be looking out for more of his narrations. And I will be reading more of Nick Jones. Bravo Mr. Jones! You have made this reader very happy.

Reminds me of a classic

Great story, tight plotting, and seamlessly combines levity and lightheartedness w/ introspection and thrills…. I was continually reminded of Jack Finney’s Time and Again, in the bestest of ways, as I read…. The author made the idea/s his own, but was no doubt influenced by that masterpiece…. Already started the second book in series, and looking forward to release of third….

This is very good. Book 2 is better

I listened to book one and two in reverse order. This is a good book and I was intrigued and full of suspense even though I knew how it ended. I recommend (both).
