About this listen

Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Who knew that the vengeful Todd would escape, then conjure a computer game packed with wolves, wenches, wastelands, and assorted harrowing hazards - and trap his hapless former friends inside it? Stripped of their magic powers, the would-be wizards must brave terrifying dangers, technical glitches, and one another's company if they want to see Medieval England - and their favorite sci-fi movies on VHS - ever again. Can our heroes survive this magical mystery torture? Or will it only lead them and their pointy hats into more peril?

I LIKED YOU TWO BETTER WHEN,

YOU LIKED EACH OTHER LESS.
Their is some science fiction in this, but it is mostly about having fun. There is some fantasy, but is more about fun. There is a lot of gaming, but also a lot of fun. This whole series was a blast. I liked this book better then number 2, but not as good as number 1 and that is the way most trilogies go. One ironic situation, that I am not sure the author realized, was when he as making fun of movies these days and how they are all sequels. He complains about it in his third book of a trilogy.

This book was more about gaming than the others. The whole story is a game within a game. Similar to Player One.

Luke Daniels is to Scott Meyer, as Frank Muller is to Stephen King, Ray Porter is to Jonathan Maberry, Wil Wheaton is to John Scalzi. He is great.

Fun but empty

Story gave us little reason to care about the characters or their journey. no major character development.

Not the strongest in the series

I like this series but book one and two were much better. This one seemed a bit hurried for my taste.

Awesome Book

Any additional comments?

Author takes a very unrealistic idea and creates a world based on it and does a very good job at it.

I like that the author did not go in to the weeds as to the hows and whys of the world as that would have ruined the story with unneeded details

Characters grow and develop from book to book and each book it still a complete story al by itself with just enough flashbacks to refresh your memory

A bit slow in places, but good overall.

I have some issues with how everything works in the universe, but it sure makes for some interesting story telling. I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first two books, and look forward to further stories from the author about the Wizards of Lead church.

still going strong

like the previous two this continuation was able to expand on a world in an unpredictable way. while avoiding obvious steps the story could have taken the author was able to keep it fresh and unpredictable.

Excellent

A great spoof of the RPG genre. It accurately and amusingly presented the problems you find in those games.

So sad this is the last one

This book series is awesome, it is so sad that this the last one. But the end of the book leaves some doors open to imagination

I wish it wasn't the end, but it closes well

loved this whole series. I keep listening over and over.
the characters left out of book two take center stage here, and we finally get the whole story of Todd. everything that ever irked you about a fantasy game or story gets spoofed and called out here.
the series ends by allowing the characters to continue about their business, but doesn't feel like a let down or a false lead to a sequel.

buy 1 and 2, then I won't have to convince you to get this one, you'll already be as excited as I am!
