Richard Brockwell, the younger son of Ivy Hill's most prominent family, hasn't been home for Christmas in years. He prefers to live in the London townhouse, far away from Brockwell Court, the old family secret that haunts him, and the shadows of his past mistakes. Visiting Ivy Hill at Christmas was great for the imagination. Having read the previous books, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones was fun and festive. It felt like I was stepping into the Victorian English countryside and experiencing the twelve days of Christmas traditions with the characters. A fun read.

I throughly enjoyed this book from J. Klassen- I was a little surprised by the Christian influence into the story but it did not diminish it or consume it - I am looking forward to hearing the other books in the series !

This is such a sweet story, and if you’ve read the Ivy Hill series you are going to want to read this one too! I love how it involves and Christ centered Christmas, and it’s quite the redemption story.

the author's subtle character development and metamorphosis is masterful. the reader was a little bit breathy like Marilyn Monroe in some places which seemed affected. I've heard her as a reader before with a voice lively and very effective so it is overlooked. beautifully written all in all and worth the wait of this latest publication

Julie Klassen did it again! Her main character is so unlikable at first that I almost didn’t want to continue with the book! But I trusted her and her way of writing character arcs and it paid off! I loved this book and loved the main character!

Other characters from other Ivy Hill novels are in this book and that makes it satisfying, as well. We get to see little glimpses into their new lives.

Narration: 5 stars

Wonderfully read and acted by Ms. Jasicki! She’s a wonderful voice actress and does a number of distinct voices which adds depth to the narration. She’s definitely a go-to narrator for me :-)
