About this listen

The second book in the acclaimed Licanius Trilogy by James Islington.

In the wake of a devastating attack, an amnesty has been declared for all Augurs - finally allowing them to emerge from hiding and openly oppose the dark forces massing against the land of Andarra. As the Augur Davian and his new allies hurry north toward the ever-weakening Boundary, however, fresh horrors along their path suggest that their reprieve may have come far too late.

His ally in the Capital, the new Northwarden, contends with assassins and politicians and uncovers a dangerous political secret. Meanwhile, their compatriot Asha begins a secret investigation into the disappearance of the Shadows.

And Caeden races against time to fulfill his treacherous bargain with the Lyth, but as more and more of his memories return, he begins to realize that the two sides in this ancient war may not be as clear-cut as they first seemed....

Over The Top

This book was not predictable. The author spun a deceptive web of deadly intrigue that leaves you wanting more.

Absolutely Riveting in Every Way

Brandon Sanderson has been my favorite author for some time now, but I have never been so enticed to re-listen to a book like the Licanius Trilogy! I've never had an audiobook where I have, upon finishing the second book of a series, immediately begun re-listening to the first book of the series!

The philosopical and moral undertones and debates require multiple listens to fully grasp and appreciate! I love it!

The time travel, prophecy, shape-shifting, and multiple personality, elements require many enjoyable re-listens to parse out the puzzle and details. Islington has managed these elements well as they can lead a story to becoming confusing or silly, but so far he has really delivered.

Also, the magic system is interesting and very entertaining.

I cannot praise these books enough - and can't wait for the third installment!

Loved this book!

If you like Brandon Sanderson novels, you will love this series! Michael Kramer once again does an amazing job with Narration, his voices drawing you into the story. The charachters are believable and endearing yet flawed just like we all are. I cant wait for the next book in the series!

Rich and complex- awesome multipledraws story!!!

Rich and complex, the story, of the gifted and augurs, draws you in and takes you on a vast journey of past, present and potential futures all intertwined. Michael Kramer’s narration is excellent and provides easy recognition of characters and emotions in the storyline.

The third book is underway and I can’t wait for it!!!
